(12/15/21) - "We had a great experience with our one-night stay at Goose Creek. The facilities are first rate (and as advertised), the farm is pretty accessible from I-81, and Carl's directions were very helpful. We travel with two walking horses in a two-horse trailer and the parking facility could have easily facilitated a much bigger trailer. Carl is a great host, and we will stop again on our next trip through the area.". . . (12/30/21) - "Beautiful views. Nicest owner. Clean and perfect for us. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and facility!". . . (6/18/22) - "Owner was great; met us at the gate. Beautiful pasture. 10 minutes off I-81.". . . (7/15/22) - "Goose Creek Farm was a wonderful layover facility. Close to I-81, plenty of room for truck and trailer to turn around, nice big stalls with mats, small and large grass paddocks, Carl was very friendly and welcoming. A+++". . . (7/19/22) - "Beautiful facility and very kind host. Exceptionally clean and well maintained.". . . (8/11/22) - "Southern hospitality at it's best! Carl is a friendly and kind gentleman who helped make my overnight stay with my 12 year old daughter and our 4 ponies relaxing and peaceful. The stalls were quite large, safe and well-appointed. I loved the fact that I had use of a grass round pen, which really helped in reducing the stress of traveling for my animals by allowing them to graze safely. Having the ability to hook-up to electric rather than staying at a hotel made the process of long distance horse travel even easier. I highly recommend this quaint little gem and I will definitely be staying here again!". . . (11/19/22) - "The facilities were absolutely gorgeous! What a beautiful place to wake up in. Carl was incredibly gracious and kind and fun to talk to! I would highly suggest his facility.". . . (12/13/22) - "I can’t say enough good things about Goose Creek Farm and the proprietor, Carl Richardson. I had a tire blowout on my horse trailer and arrived very late. Carl not only gave me directions that saved me time, he also talked me through the last 2 miles because my eyes were bleary and I was exhausted. He waited for me at the end of his driveway with a light to guide me in. Goose Creek Farm is fantastic and my horses had a restful time grazing on a large pasture of nutritious forage. I hope to go back — not only because of the facility but also because Carl is very knowledgeable and provided good conversation and helpful information.". . . (12/15/22) - "Carl and the Goose Creek Farm are amazing. Not sure which I liked more. Easy directions to follow. My horses really enjoyed their time on the pasture and getting to stretch their legs after another day in the trailer. The dogs equally enjoyed their freedom to romp and play in the safe and secure round pen. I’d definitely stay here again.". . . (4/13/23) - "Easy access from 81. Beautiful, immaculately clean grounds. Very quiet spot surrounded by wooded hills. Easy access, flat trailer parking with nearby electrical and water. Helpful host!". . . (8/9/23) - "Carl met us at the gate. He assisted with making sure we found the parking and where to leave the trailer. He provided water and let our horse pasture. After a long day in the trailer, having a beautiful pasture that Carl and his wife could monitor from their house was wonderful. He was up and greeted us the next morning. He provided the perfect mixture of attentiveness and independence needed by travelers with horses. Plus his rates were so very reasonable. We will return.". . . (10/15/23) - "The owner, Carl, is a real gentleman. Beautiful and clean facilities. Easy access to hotels and restaurants. Our horses were very happy to enjoy a large pasture after an 8 hour trailer ride.". . . (11/14/23) - "Carl and Goose Creek Farm were an amazing choice for our short term stay. He was able to accommodate our two horses and mini donkey, who has a mind of his own and absolutely adored Carl. We were in a pinch and needed to keep the horses there for an extra day, to which Carl was incredibly accommodating. I felt comfortable leaving them there with the 24/7 surveillance and security of the farm. I highly recommend Goose Creek Farm, not to mention it is absolutely beautiful, you and your horses will not want to leave!". . . (1/9/24) - "This farm was a fantastic place to give my horse a night's rest. Very tidy, stall was huge and beautiful. Host, Carl, was helpful and kind. Space to easily park a trailer overnight. Thank you. Bristol has all of the services you could ever need too. Strongly recommend this place for a horse respit."

Comments: (10/20/04) - "Thanks for a great time! Clean barn and turnout area. Hotels and food were within 5 min. drive. May I suggest a bed & breakfast? I think your response would be great! Highly recommended facility.". . .(12/4/04) - "Great place - I've arrived at all hours of the morning and they have been very welcoming.". . .(10/10/05) - "Mike & Vicki are very friendly and extremely knowledgable about horses. I was amazed at the level of care they provided for our 'girls' during our relocation from California to the Richmond, VA area. I highly recommend this facility!". . .(12/9/05) - "Great people, they checked on my nervous horse several times during the night and moved him to the round pen once it was clear he wasn't happy in the stall. Clean and safe. Highly recommend for anyone traveling.". . .(12/13/05) - "One of my horses was injured during the few hours of turnout and they were very, very helpful in getting him to cross ties (very lame) and calling the vet and offering for me to stay as long as I needed.". . .(10/15/06) - "{The owners} were wonderful hosts and extremely accommodating.". . . (10/30/08) - "We stayed w/Mike & Vicki last year on Christmas week (Dec 22nd) and our experience was beyond belief. A FIRST CLASS operation and people who run it! No hesitiation about staying there again, IN FACT we just scheduled another stay for next month! Thanks again Mike & Vicki.". . . (11/5/09) - "A Super overnight stop, Mike and Vickie are very accommodating. We've stayed many times, it's easy to get to and always great.". . . . . . (10/23/16) - " We were thrilled with our stay at Rockin K while on route from Ontario to Florida! Vicki and Mike were so awesome and helpful. We stayed in our trailer so we really enjoyed the wonderful "people" space with BBQ, tables and western decor. It was almost like a private outdoor living room. A very welcome relax after a couple of days on the road. The horse accommodations were fantastic with a spacious stall and a large outdoor ring where my mare could run and stretch her legs after a long day in the trailer. We have stayed at many horse motels over the last few years and Rockin K will now be one of our faves. Thanks again Vicki and Mike!". . . .(10/24/16) - "Couldn't say enough! Hospitality was wonderful! Very clean and highly recommend. We arrived around 9 p.m. and mike helped us get things going and made us feel at home! Vicki kept in touch with me on arriving! Thankyou again!!!"

Cheese and Crackers at check-in and absolutely delicious breakfast in the morning. Would def. stay there again.... a little off the beaten path, but totally worth stopping!". . . (10/15/13) - "A very welcoming setting! We arrived late due to truck issues earlier in the day, and the manager had snacks and drinks waiting for us, and the stalls were all ready and waiting for our horses! A very comfortable stay for all!!"

Comments: (2/19/14) - "We stayed an extra day because we felt so comfortable here! They had a great hook up for the RV right next to the covered outdoor riding ring and the barn was also very close so my horse was never far from my sight. When we decided to stay an extra day, the owners gave a large acre plus pasture to let my horse relax and enjoy some leg stretching frolicking. We will absolutely call on them again when we travel through VA!". . . (4/2/14) - "Amanda and her husband were awesome! Loved the farm and you cannot find nicer, kinder, more helpful people!". . . (5/31/14) - "The cabin and horse facilities were wonderful. Amanda and David were very accommodating. Very convenient and we will definitely stay there again.". . . (10/24/14) - "I stayed here twice and the facilities were exceptional. The hosts were both friendly and helpful. My horse was happy in the lovely, clean stall that was ready for him and he enjoyed turnout in the covered arena and also in a grass paddock. There was ample room for a big rig. The apartment was immaculate and had every convenience. I will definitely stay here again if I am in the area.". . . (10/16/15) - "Wonderful facility and Amanda & Dave are terrific hosts. Loved our layover at Lazy Acres and plan to make it our destination next year. My horse was so comfortable and relaxed there. Great experience!". . . (10/19/17) - "Everything was as advertised, host was friendly and helpful. Stalls were large, safe, bedded, and water in stalls. Hay was available. They let us use their arena to turn out horses to run around. Parking was level and easy in and out for 38' trailer. Truck Stop nearby to fuel up before continuing. Would stay again.". . . (3/13/18) - "Amanda and David are amazing and are always very helpful when we are driving by. We use them every time on our way to and from Florida. We have used many layovers and this is the best by far.". . . (4/15/18) - "Lazy Acres exceeded all expectations. The setting is beautiful and relaxing. We loved the cozy cabin which was within walking distance from the barn. The stalls were safe, spacious and ready upon arrival. Our ponies were so happy here. We have already booked our next stay! Thank you again, David and Amanda!". . . (2/23/20) - "I have utilized this farm as a layover twice in the past year. David greets us on arrival every visit. The facility is always clean and tidy. Being very particular on care of my horses, I've been very pleased and sleep well the nights they are in David's care.". . . (8/8/21) - "Excellent in every way. Would recommend and definitely stay there again.". . . (11/4/21) 0- "Stayed at Lazy Acres Farm on my way back from Tennessee. We had 2 horses and 2 Living Quarters. The horses were able to go out in a grass pasture and then were brought in to stalls at night. Stalls were clean. The owners were very helpful. The barn has a bathroom and a shower - didn't use due to availability of our own bathrooms. Level areas for Living Quarters and easy access to Rte. 81. Quiet farm with nice views. Also has cabins for rent but didn't use so won't review. Has one 30 amp outlet and then the rest are regular outlets so bring an adapter.". . . (8/22/22) - "This place was my first experience in needing to travel the distance that we did and was our first stop. They were great and very accommodating to a nervous first-time traveler. Thanks again."

Comments: (8/24/16) - I stayed here in April, sorry this is so late. I can not say enough for staying at this place. What a wonderful host; arrived very late and we were greeted as soon as we drove in, all exterior lights on. Stall was huge and barn is very airy. Beautiful, comfortable studio to stay in. The quiche was an unexpected BONUS! Thank You.". . . (3/21/24) - "Amazing owners. So accommodating! (6/24/23) - "This facility was a wonderful stop. Horses thought they were on vacation. Huge clean stalls, grassy turnout. Very nice lounge and restroom with anything you might need. The hosts couldn’t have been any more accommodating! Highly recommend!". . . (7/6/23) - "We have a LQ trailer, so slept next to barn. The road there had some hills and turns, but we made it. Once there, Ike was amazing! It was pouring down rain and it couldn’t have been easier and nicer. Stalls were beautifully clean and large. Everyone was happy and well rested. When we woke and saw what a beautiful place we were in, we wished we could have stayed and ridden around. Thank you, Ike! We’ll be back.". . . (8/24/23) - "Great place for an overnight rest for the horses on long trips. Facility is clean, stalls are large, and the host is helpful and knowledgeable.". . . (9/11/23) - "Ike is a wonderful host with his true southern hospitality and his facility is top notch. He is waiting outside when you arrive to help you get your rig situated and the stalls are bedded with a full bucket of water for your horses. The stalls are very large and clean - he sanitizes the stall after a horse leaves. Ike also is up to greet you in the morning and directs you to help you get your rig our safely then he cleans the stalls so you can get on the road to your destination. This will be my "go to" overnight location anytime I'm headed his direction.". . . (10/18/23) - "Ike was incredible, he gave great instructions for getting to his farm and waited up until almost 11pm for us to get in. He had a lovely broodmare stall available for us with fresh bedding, and water. He graciously showed us around, showed us the bathroom/shower and even his new kitten, Nemo. What a lovely little layover up on the hill. 10/10.". . . (11/8/23) - "I can't say enough good things about our boy's stay with Ike at Ridgeway Belgians! Spacious, clean stall all set up on arrival. Ike is so knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. I knew my guy was in great hands while we went off to get some rest. So glad we stopped here! Recommend Ike with 100% confidence. The best!". . . (11/8/23) - "Ike was exceptional! Nice big clean, safe stalls! Took very good care of our gelding! He even went so far as to check on us to make sure we got home safely!! Definitely will use him again if we need to!!!!". . . (11/24/23) - "Stopped at Ridgeway en route to Florida. It is easy to find and accessible off the interstate. Close to the town of Marion. Host was right there and guided us to unload. He was very helpful getting situated. They have hook up and a bathroom if needed. He was very friendly and kind. He is knowledgable of the area and travel and gave us an alternative route to interstate 26 we were unaware of! Highly recommend this as an overnight.". . . (12/13/23) - "This was a perfect place to stop. Mr Essick was waiting in the driveway when we pulled in. Helped unload, stalls are large & comfy. He offered to take care of my mare so I didn't have to come back from the hotel (that was a surprise). Has tons of stories to tell & knows the history of the area. His directions are precise, follow them. You can't go wrong stopping here & meeting this very nice man.". . . (1/19/24) - "I called Ike when I had trouble with my truck. Even though I was over a half an hour away and hadn't made a reservation, he immediately came to my rescue! He came and hooked up to my trailer and took it and my horse to his place. Ike, you are a lifesaver!! THANK YOU!". . . (3/1/24) - "This was our first time trailering long distance with our horse. Ike offered a large, clean, secure stall for our horse, expert advice on trailering and, above all, peace of mind that our horse was in good hands while we stayed overnight at a nearby hotel. He was knowledgeable, experienced, helpful and very kind. Thank you, Ike. We will be back.". . . (4/10/24) - "Mr. Ike was friendly and knowledgeable. The facilities were very clean. We booked and stayed for our return trip also.". . . (4/15/24) - "We stayed coming and leaving Florida. On both stays, we called with little notice and found Ike extremely welcoming and concerned about our comfort. This is a beautiful facility with large, comfortable stalls and many luxuries available for campers, like hot showers and comfy chairs to watch TV. Ike is super accommodating and so personable. Highly recommend!". . . (54/15/24) - "We stopped overnight here (both directions) on a recent trip from NY to Florida. Ike was an amazing host and the facility is GREAT! Huge, clean, secure stalls that were prepared when we arrived. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you need a stopover off 81 in Virginia this one is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Comments: (5/24/20) - "Kate and her family were very accommodating and welcoming. Due to the virus outbreak, she took extra precautions to make sure we were safe (we stayed in their comfortable home). My horse was very happy, he had other horses he could see and a huge well-bedded stall attached to his own, very clean, private paddock. As an added bonus, Kate cooked dinner for us and we had fresh veggies from her garden that she sent home with us. The property is beautiful and easy to find, our trip north used a different route (for us) 29 and 15, which was quieter than the traffic on 95 or 81, but didn’t seem to take any longer. TuckerBerry Farm will definitely be our layover on our north/south journey from now on.". . . (5/25/20) - "Kate and her mom were wonderful. They were there when we arrived. We were there during Covid 2020. Kate and her mother had the stalls ready and water buckets full so we didn’t have to touch anything. She also brought her front loader to the back of my trailer so I could clean it out. Hooking up my living quarters horse trailer was easy. Thank you for the hospitality.". . . (9/22/20) - "What a great find for two of our horses we were transporting.. 5 stars! Super friendly host.". . . (2/21/24) - "Tuckerberry Farm is a beautiful facility with large stalls and friendly, attentive hosts. The horses settled in well and we stayed in the lodging side of the house that was comfortable and clean."

He came to pick up our horses to be able to change the tire and help us with all information I needed. The stalls are perfect. Paddock is huge, the apartement is impeccable and very charming.I love the place. I will go back there 100%."

"I enjoyed my short stay at Lazy R. The stalls were large and beautifully cleaned with fresh water for my two horses. It was quiet. Hook up was easy for my LQ horse trailer. Getting in and out of Cherry Lane was a challenge, but very doable. I will definitely be back next year.". . . "What a great spot to Layover! Super friendly and hospitable, easy to get to off 95, awesome stalls and hook up. Brought my dog too. Highly recommend for a layover. We will be back!". . . "Lazy R was the perfect layover stop on our way south. They were so welcoming and made my horse feel at home and took such good care of him during his stay. The property is lovely and quiet and the stalls are large and deeply bedded. I would definitely recommend Lazy R if looking for a peaceful layover stop right off 95. Such a simple and positive experience.". . . "We stayed with our two horse at the ranch coming back from WEC Florida! We loved it! The stalls were clean and FULL of shavings. Everything was safe and the owner is just great. Our horses were safe and got to rest and also got to go in turn out to strech their legs! 10/10 service!"

(10/8/23) - "Could not have been happier with my choice to overnight at The Lazy R, Leah Roehl. The host was responsive when making reservations and was extremely helpful upon my arrival thru my entire stay. She’s truly a super host! The farm was nothing short of Spectacular!! Big rig friendly, the barn and paddocks were clean, spacious and well laid out. One of the best experiences I have had traveling, I highly recommend. I know I will be back!". . . (10/27/23) - "I stayed here on my way to Florida. Not only was the place super clean; Leah was lovely! My horses were relaxed and ready for travel the next day. I also was lucky enough to stay in the cabin on site. It was adorable and also very convenient. Leah was super easy to communicate with and she was also very accommodating! I would recommend this stop to anyone traveling south!". . . (11/22/23) - "Small but very nice facility, big stalls, individual turnouts & hookup for our trailer w/living qtrs. We were much later than anticipated due to traffic issues in DC, but Leah was right there when we arrived; she even cleaned out the trailer while we got the horses settled. Very convenient to Rte. 95, fuel & restaurants right down the road.". . . (1/2/24) - "We had an amazing visit to Lazy R hotel. On our way home from Florida! Our host was gracious and extremely flexible! Our accommodations were so amazing I didn’t want to leave! Thanks again Leah for a great and restful stay! Will definitely look to stay there should I get to travel to Florida again! All the Best to you.". . . (1/23/24) - "We had a change of plans and decided to drive through the night. We came from Massachusetts and got word about a snow storm coming our way so left early. The Lazy R was very accommodating to our schedule change. My gelding Rooster was able to enjoy himself in a large pen with a shelter. I also had the choice of a stall in the barn. When we arrived, Leah’s daughter came out and offered to clean out the back of the trailer while we got settled. My dog lucy, dad and I stayed in their charming cabin. It was nice and warm and we slept for most of the day. Went into town to an Italian restaurant for dinner and hit the road Georgia bound. Leah's dogs were very friendly and I had a lovely conversation while my girl played with them! Im a travel nurse and VA is one of the states I would love to work in so I'll be reaching out to her for some local boarding suggestions when the time comes! I will most definitely stay here again if traveling through. It felt like home. Thank you for opening your doors to people like me.". . . (2/8/24) - "Traveling from Upstate NY to Ocala Florida to escape the brutal winter weather, I had been searching for the right spot to overnight my horses. Leah is very easy to communicate with, met me when I arrived and helped get the horses settled and the trailer cleaned out. The farm is clean and very close to I-95, making it a quick on and off stop. The cabin on the property is very cozy, and I slept well, feeling safe as a woman who travels alone. Leah and the Lazy R is a 5 star horse hotel! My horses rested well also, and made our trip just a little easier.". . . (4/16/24) - "Super service, nice {place to relax}. I recommend it."

Comments: (11/5/23) - "Bill and Marla were absolutely wonderful to meet! We arrived a little earlier than we thought we would, but Marla and Bill were great to communicate with. Only 10 miles off the Interstate. Well worth the short drive. The view at the barn is absolutely beautiful. We loved seeing the wildlife out and about at dusk! Stalls were very clean and spacious! Highly recommended laying over with them.". . . (3/25/24) - "We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay at the farm. The horse stalls were clean and comfortable. I would definitely come back."

Comments: (3/18/16) - "Great place. Safe barn, big stalls; bright and open. I was even given turnout if needed. Stopped on our way back from Florida heading to New England. I highly recommend Hidden Meadows as a stop over.". . . (5/19/17) - "Absolutely wonderful!!! My 2 horses stayed there on our way back from FL to NY on 5/10/17. Mary Beth and her husband, Jeff, were fantastic! The facility was gorgeous and the accommodations for my horses were perfect!". . . (3/31/19)- "This was a great place to overnight on our way back from Florida. Mary Beth and Jeff were easy to reach and met us at the barn when we arrived. There was an easy turnaround for the trailer. The stalls were large, well bedded and had fresh water ready. Mary Beth did night check and let us know the next am how much our horses dank, etc. They also had 24 hour camera monitoring. We were hesitant at first because it was a little further off the highway than we hoped. However, it was an easy drive and well worth the short detour. There were lots of restaurants and hotels at the exit as well. They also offered a room at the house if we were interested. I highly recommend them. . . (7/7/20) - "This place is awesome. Mary Beth was great with communication and extremely attentive even though we arrived at 3 am. The facility and service were wonderful. Stalls were clean, well-bedded, airy, and very large. There was electric hookup for our LQ trailer. We will definitely layover there again in the future."

Comments: (4/18/14) - "Very nice place. Large stalls and turn out paddock if desired. Owners very helpful. Have stayed here repeat times and have always found consistency. Beautiful area and my horses and I love the chickens! Makes us feel right at home.". . . (5/17/17) - "Sandra and her husband went above and beyond to get me settled after a long hot (97 deg) day of travel from FL-VA. Nice cement block 12' x 12' matted stalls with fans. One mile cement drive at the end, plenty of room to turn around. THX for the eggs!". . . (3/11/18) - "Sandra and Larry are the BEST horse hotel hosts around. I can not say enough about their facility and hospitality. This is our 4th year doing a layover at their facility on our way to South Carolina. If you need a place to put your horse up for the night I couldn’t suggest this place more highly. Very easily located to the highway, hotels and dining. Our 50 ft. rig can get in and out easily.". . . (5/31/18) - "A perfect stay!! Very clean, beautiful ranch with great hosts! Very convenient to highway 81- We would like to stay here again. Thank you Sandra.". . . (9/27/18) - "I had a great layover at this place. The owners were super nice and helpful. Stalls were big end clean for a 16/17 hand horse to feel comfortable to be able to roll. Enough room for my trailer. I know when ever I’m in need of a place to stay on my trips I will definitely go back. Great place and peaceful. Highly recommended.". . . (10/16/20) - "Emmanuel Equine is easy access to I-81, as well as, food and lodging. The farm is clean and stalls are quite adequate. Your horse(s) will be in good hands with Sandra.". . . Comments: (10/30/21) - "Deanna was welcoming and helpful without being a "mother hen". We loved her positive, warm attitude toward dogs, humans, and the equines. Stalls were large, clean, bedded, and buckets disinfected. In the morning Deanna was helpful and patient with loading a reluctant pony. She even provided an air compressor for the trailer tires! Deanna is a thorough equine professional who I recommend highly when you need a comfortable layover."
