Comments: (12/10/04) - "{The owner} was wonderful and the place is a destination with views of the Smokies. We had a concrete pad with 20 and 50 volt, water and dump right there so we were in heaven. We rode in her hayed fields.". . .(5/3/08) - "Fantastic cottage! Great paddock for my young horses. Attentive host. Thanks for a great stop!". . .(7/29/08) - "Wonderful accommodations for horses and people. Strongly recommend. The owner was more than gracious when we showed up at 3am (more than slightly ahead of schedule). Sorry for that!". . . (5/19/10) - "We have stayed in many places over five years of traveling with horses and always look forward to Teresa's place. We had too much rain to go out riding on the VA Creeper trail but we took the truck off and went out to dinner and real theater in town. Great destination for a trailering or cottage stop. We used her cottage for TV."

(3/2/08) - "This is the place! WOW! super. We are military and move with our horses often. Susan took very good care of us, impressive. Thank you, you made our long trip so perfect. I hope to repay you someday.". . .(3/10/08) - "After a number of stops in 2006 and 2007 we have placed our reservations for 2008 knowing that our horses will be in spacious, clean and safe stalls. Easy in and out with the rig - close to the interstate. Susan and Fred top notch hosts.". . .(10/20/08) - "Susan went above and beyond for my horse. I was only traveling with one horse, so she moved her horses so "Ziggy" would have company. Lovely turnout and stalls. Thank you Susan for making us feel like home!". . . (1/6/09) - "Great place and a wonderful host. Susan met us down at the exit from the interstate and lead us in to the barn and since it was dark out, that was WONDERFUL. But the barn was close to the highway and it was easy for us to find our way out in the morning. The barn was spotless and we are able to park our motor home right there and plug in for the night. Wonderful place, would use it again anytime. We had no problem getting a 38 foot motorhome pulling an 18 foot stock trailer behind it into or out of the barn. And did I say the place was CLEAN? You could have eaten off of the aisle way floor. There was a ring that I was offered to be able to turn the pony out in the morning for a little exercise, but I did not, since it had been raining and I did not want a wet, muddy horse traveling for another two days....but Susan was the best and I highly recommend this place to anyone!". . . (1/17/10) - "Wonderful place to stay. Close to hotels, food, fuel, etc. Stalls were huge and clean. Horses loved being able to stretch after a long trailer ride from upstate NY. Would definitely stay again.". . . (5/10/10) - "Thank you very much Susan for making our stop convienient and enjoyable. Will reccomend to anybody wanting to layover.". . . (8/310) - "The others have all said it well. Very, very nice place, and Susan was most helpful. Use exit 7, stop at Wal-mart for what you need, and many great restaurants all right there in easy walking distance. She will meet you and guide you the few short miles to her place. Easy in and out even for big rigs. And while you're at it, locate a nice calm walking horse for her husband to buy!". . . (9/22/10) - "Wonderful place to stay! So nice and very accommodating! The Motel 6 is a decent hotel and they offer a 10% discount for customers of the Knickerbockers! Great food as well!". . . (4/28/11) - "Our stay was fantastic from the initial contact on. They met us and led us into the stables, made sure we had everything we needed, and were very warm and welcoming. Susan is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Their hospitality was supreme and our horse was very happy and safe. Susan also has good contacts and when we got ready to leave she called ahead to check the weather forecast to our destination. Great place to stay!". . . (8/12/11) - "Very friendly hosts and a beautiful barn! Also very close to hotels and restaurants.". . . (10/2/11) - "We were VERY happy with our choice to stay at Knickerbocker! Susan guided us in from the interstate and this was greatly appreciated. We used the arena for turnout while we ate dinner and then had stalls for the night. Everything was spotless and well kept. Highly recommended!". . . (12/24/11) - "I moved house and horse to TN. I was frazzled, lost and tired. The host met me at the interstate at 9 pm. I was very pleased and plan to stay there again. Next time I'll arrive mid afternoon. Wonderful arena.". . . (2/24/12) - "Susan and her husband were wonderful. They came out at night to help us find our way to their farm. Very friendly and very helpful. We will definitely use their facilities again.". . . (3/25/12) - "Susan was really great and the facility and location were extremely nice, quiet, clean and safe. Our two horses were turned out overnight together in a large well fenced area with grass and water and I felt very comfortable leaving them there. I would highly recommend this stable. We stayed only a few minutes away at a hotel.". . . (4/26/12) - "Great people there to greet us and settle our horses in for the night! Very nice facility and would stay there again as well as recommend it to any traveling horse folks! A+.". . . (5/9/12) - "Great people; very accommodating and easy to get in contact with. The place is very clean and the stalls are huge! I would go back again! Location is close to hotels and food and very easy to get in and out of." . . . (5/14/12) - "Thanks for helping our travels go smoothly!". . . (9/12/12) - "1st rate stable.". . . (5/15/13) - "Susan was so readily available it made everything very reassuring.". . . (5/30/13) - "Really nice place, great people. Motels and food are a little far but great place to stay.". . . (8/21/13) - "This was a half way point for our travels. Our horse had never spent 9 hours in a trailer before so we were anxious to get him out into a field. Susan showed us where we could turn him out and told us we could leave him out for as long as we wanted. Arrival was so easy, as Susan met us at the exit and we followed her to the farm, which was very close. We had an excellent experience and felt our horse was in a safe and good place. We will use the facility again in the future.". . . (10/29/13) - "I highly recommend Knickerbocker Stable. Susan was great. Clean, close to the interstate and easy access.". . . (12/9/13) - "This was a very positive experience. Susan met us at the interstate and was very helpful. The facility was clean and well kept. I felt very comfortable leaving my horse with Susan and her family.". . . (2/12/14) - "Weather was awful but Susan was great. Horses were warm and comfortable. Very close and convenient to interstate 81. Highly reccomend.". . . (5/7/14) - "Great place to stay and keep horses while traveling. We camped for free and could see the horses from the camper. Thanks Susan, we will be back. Highly recommended!!". . . (6/28/14) - "We have stayed before and will definitely stay again. Beautiful facility and great hosts. Horses were safe and comfortable. Highly reccomended.". . . (8/20/14) - "Susan went out of her way to meet us at the interstate and guided us the 2 or so miles to the farm since we were so tired and hadn't been there before. Excellent facilities, very clean and well kept. Easy to get to. Very helpful and professional host. Definitely would recommend it to anyone traveling with horses. Thanks Susan, we will stay again next time we come through that area!"

(9/19/11) - "Great experience. We showed up late and Carl met us at the gate to guide us in. He had everything ready, and helped get our horse settled in to a large clean stall with water buckets filled and ready. We had a new horse that was hard to load and Carl’s expertise and assistance was invaluable. Great bargain, great facilities, and unbeatable friendly expert service and support.". . . (11/13/11) - "I was so impressed with the facilities at Goose Creek Farms that I have to share my story with anyone who is coming through Bristol, Virginia and needs a place to keep their horses. It is almost like the best kept secret. The facilities are very clean, fresh water daily, magnificent views, convenient to local restaurants, hotels shopping and interstate. The owner of the facility not only provides you with a place to board your horses, he watches over them to make sure they are taken excellent care of. Mr. Richardson has been around horses for many years, which is an added bonus for boarders. So, for anyone looking for a place to board horses, you can not go wrong with Goose Creek Farms. Blessings, very happy horse boarder.". . . (11/18/11) - "We stayed at Goose Creek on Oct 27th this year.Carl was a fabulous host and the facilities are top notch and in a beautiful setting. We highly recommend and will be sure to stop here again when we travel to VA. Ned and Rita.". . . (1/6/11) - "My husband and I stayed with Carl two times when traveling between Franklin, TN and Richmond, VA. Carl was friendly and informative. I loved having a large paddock for our two horses to stretch their legs after hours in the trailer. Everything was great! Bristol is 5 minutes away with any restaurant or hotel you would want but most importantly the facility is away from highway noise. Carl is always available and the entrance is locked at night for outsiders but not for your access. Would definitely stay there again.". . . (4/12/12) - "Mr. Richardson, thank you so much for letting us stay at your place. It was beautiful; you were so welcoming and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.". . . (8/9/12) - "This place was wonderful! The stalls and buckets were the cleanest I have encountered, the host was so nice and helpful, and it was within 5 minutes of tons of restaurants and hotels! We were traveling with 3 event horses and they were VERY happy over nighting there! It was storming when we were there, so we were not able to turn out, but had it not been, I would have also used the paddocks; they were quite nice. Driveway had plenty of room for me to turn my over sized four horse around.". . . (1/3/13) - "Wonderful place to stay. My horse had a good sized paddock with run-in shed. Owner was very personable and friendly. Gave recommendation of where to stay and we received a discount. Easy to get to and back to the interstate. Will definitely stay there again.". . . (9/7/13) - "Great place for a layover - vey convenient to interstate. Fantastic host greeted us at the road with a lantern, accommodated us even though we had our arrival date wrong. Used the paddock for two horses and the grass was fantastic... just ask tanner and dakota! Very quiet place to stay in your horse trailer. We will use Goose Creek again!". . . (10/4/13) - "This was truly a delightful place to stay. The host, Carl, could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. The turn out was beautiful and the stalls were immaculate. This is the best layover facility I have ever stayed in and I will definitely stay here again when I travel this way.". . . (10/6/13) - "Immaculate facility, super friendly host, Carl Richarson! All our needs were attended to immediately. Great horse facilities, great turn out paddocks. Mr. Richarson was also very welcoming and accommodating to our multitude of dogs! It was a pleasant and relaxing lay over and we would definitely go back!". . . (10/17/13) - "We had a wonderful stay at Goose Creek Farm. Carl was welcoming, accommodating and a pleasure to chat with. Our stalls were totally prepared with superb turnout for the horses. We'll be coming back next year!!". . . (10/19/13) - "Carl was very professional. Facilities were top notch; clean, safe and secure. True horseman owner. Everything you will need. We will be back. Thank you Goose Creek from our horses and us.". . . (10/4/13) - "Dwight loved staying here so much he didn't want to leave. He had a huge pasture of green grass to enjoy and a buddy to tease over the fence. Carl, the host, was incredibly helpful with accurate directions and hotel reservations. He called in the evening to give a status report on Dwight. He made sure all our needs were met including providing hay for the balance of our journey. Excellent service and facility located close to highway, hotels, stores and restaurants.". . . (11/18/13) - "Great experience! By far, one of the best layovers we have ever stayed in. We showed up late and Carl met us at the gate to guide us in. He had everything ready and helped get our horse settled into a large clean stall with water buckets filled and ready. Carl was very welcoming and super friendly. We will be back again. Thank you Carl for everything.". . . (3/5/14) - "Carl Richardson was waiting at the gate to let us in. He is very professional and friendly. Parking area was very easy to use with enough room to turn a trailer around. Stall was amazing with fresh water in it already and grain buckets provided. Carl was very knowedgeable and helped load and unload a very green horse. Paddock was very nice and spacious and working round pen onsite. Overall, I will keep my horses at this site when my travel plans take me to the area. Would recommend the Goose Creek Farm to anyone.". . . (3/19/14) - "I'm traveling a lot and I can truly say, Goose Creek Farm in Bristol, VA will be my first choice along I-81 if it is time for a rest! Thank you Carl for your help and hospitality!"

Comments: (9/6/12) - "What a pleasure to place our horses in the care of Kathlyn for the night. Everything was more then we had expected. Clean, spacious, and safe for both horses and our equipment. The farm is very close to I-95 with overnight lodging very close by. Kathlyn, was in the barn to greet us and made us feel like one of the family. We will definitely stay at Redfield Farms again in our travels from Vermont to Florida. Thank you Kathlyn for taking such good care of our horses and us. Jake and King, Beligan 2300 lb.+ pulling horses say thank you for the hay and the treats of fresh carrots was much appreciated.". . . (12/25/13) - "I had the best experience staying overnight on my trip from Ocala to Boston! We traveled with 2 rigs and came in much later then we hoped. The owners were very nice and helpful; the stalls were big and clean. I will absolutely love to stay again on my way back to Ocala this winter ! Thank you for your great hospitality!". . . (4/6/14) - "These guys were great, meeting us late at night to help unload. Kept our stallion and 3 other horses safe and sound. We stayed last year on the way home to Vermont from Florida and just arranged to stay over next week again. Make this your half way stop!". . . (6/4/14) - "Nicest over night stabling I've ever experienced. Stalls were large clean, neat, and safe. Turnout was well fenced and safe. The owners were very helpful and made the experience as easy as possible. I had a trailer issue and Kathryn and Chuck helped me get service. They stored my trailer until all the parts could be collected and the trailer repaired."

"What I love about Westwood is the safe, quiet, relaxed, environment. Also, the ability to work with my horses year-round!". . . "What I love about Westwood is the facility has everything to offer and for any style of riding. In addition to that the place is picture perfect!". . . "What I love about Westwood is the relaxing peace and quiet to ride and spend time with your horse to lose all the stress and just relax!". . . "Westwood is the answer to my prayers and I am grateful to you and the rest of the Westwood family!"
(5/31/14) - "It is our pleasure to recommend Westwood without hesitation. Leah's organizational and horsemanship skills are exemplary. When Jim arrived there was a bag of carrots in the stall (equine equivalent of a mint on your pillow). Leah emailed me when they were offloaded and even emailed me pictures when they were loaded up and leaving in the morning. My client really appreciated getting that picture of her new boy in his cross country taxi. She helped Jim load a hesitant traveler and helped me ease that traveler's mama's worry. I can't imagine anything better. Outstanding!!!!!"

They had a great hook up for the RV right next to the covered outdoor riding ring and the barn was also very close so my horse was never far from my sight. When we decided to stay an extra day, the owners gave a large acre plus pasture to let my horse relax and enjoy some leg stretching frolicking.
