| Comments: (12/10/04) - "{The owner} was wonderful and the place is a destination with views of the Smokies. We had a concrete pad with 20 and 50 volt, water and dump right there so we were in heaven. We rode in her hayed fields.". . .(5/3/08) - "Fantastic cottage! Great paddock for my young horses. Attentive host. Thanks for a great stop!". . .(7/29/08) - "Wonderful accommodations for horses and people. Strongly recommend. The owner was more than gracious when we showed up at 3am (more than slightly ahead of schedule). Sorry for that!". . . (5/19/10) - "We have stayed in many places over five years of traveling with horses and always look forward to Teresa's place. We had too much rain to go out riding on the VA Creeper trail but we took the truck off and went out to dinner and real theater in town. Great destination for a trailering or cottage stop. We used her cottage for TV." | |||||||

| Comments: (Editor's Comments: Due to the large amount of feedback we have received on this facility, all of it positive, we've posted only the more recent comments. We thank everybody who has sent in so many nice comments.) (10/31/06) - "Beautiful facility with turn out option and lovely stalls. Susan was an exceptional hostess. We stayed coming and going! Thank you.". . .(7/31/07) - "Susan and he husband were very kind. They went out of their way to meet us off 81 at 10pm to ensure we found their barn ok. The stalls in their barn were big and clean! My horse and I had a great stay!". . .(3/2/08) - "This is the place! WOW! super. We are military and move with our horses often. Susan took very good care of us, impressive. Thank you, you made our long trip so perfect. I hope to repay you someday.". . .(3/10/08) - "After a number of stops in 2006 and 2007 we have placed our reservations for 2008 knowing that our horses will be in spacious, clean and safe stalls. Easy in and out with the rig - close to the interstate. Susan and Fred top notch hosts.". . .(10/20/08) - "Susan went above and beyond for my horse. I was only traveling with one horse, so she moved her horses so "Ziggy" would have company. Lovely turnout and stalls. Thank you Susan for making us feel like home!". . . (1/6/09) - "Great place and a wonderful host. Susan met us down at the exit from the interstate and lead us in to the barn and since it was dark out, that was WONDERFUL. But the barn was close to the highway and it was easy for us to find our way out in the morning. The barn was spotless and we are able to park our motor home right there and plug in for the night. Wonderful place, would use it again anytime. We had no problem getting a 38 foot motorhome pulling an 18 foot stock trailer behind it into or out of the barn. And did I say the place was CLEAN? You could have eaten off of the aisle way floor. There was a ring that I was offered to be able to turn the pony out in the morning for a little exercise, but I did not, since it had been raining and I did not want a wet, muddy horse traveling for another two days....but Susan was the best and I highly recommend this place to anyone!". . . (1/17/10) - "Wonderful place to stay. Close to hotels, food, fuel, etc. Stalls were huge and clean. Horses loved being able to stretch after a long trailer ride from upstate NY. Would definitely stay again.". . . (5/10/10) - "Thank you very much Susan for making our stop convienient and enjoyable. Will reccomend to anybody wanting to layover.". . . (8/310) - "The others have all said it well. Very, very nice place, and Susan was most helpful. Use exit 7, stop at Wal-mart for what you need, and many great restaurants all right there in easy walking distance. She will meet you and guide you the few short miles to her place. Easy in and out even for big rigs. And while you're at it, locate a nice calm walking horse for her husband to buy!". . . (9/22/10) - "Wonderful place to stay! So nice and very accommodating! The Motel 6 is a decent hotel and they offer a 10% discount for customers of the Knickerbockers! Great food as well!". . . (4/28/11) - "Our stay was fantastic from the initial contact on. They met us and led us into the stables, made sure we had everything we needed, and were very warm and welcoming. Susan is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Their hospitality was supreme and our horse was very happy and safe. Susan also has good contacts and when we got ready to leave she called ahead to check the weather forecast to our destination. Great place to stay!". . . (8/12/11) - "Very friendly hosts and a beautiful barn! Also very close to hotels and restaurants.". . . (10/2/11) - "We were VERY happy with our choice to stay at Knickerbocker! Susan guided us in from the interstate and this was greatly appreciated. We used the arena for turnout while we ate dinner and then had stalls for the night. Everything was spotless and well kept. Highly recommended!". . . (12/24/11) - "I moved house and horse to TN. I was frazzled, lost and tired. The host met me at the interstate at 9 pm. I was very pleased and plan to stay there again. Next time I'll arrive mid afternoon. Wonderful arena.". . . (2/24/12) - "Susan and her husband were wonderful. They came out at night to help us find our way to their farm. Very friendly and very helpful. We will definitely use their facilities again.". . . (3/25/12) - "Susan was really great and the facility and location were extremely nice, quiet, clean and safe. Our two horses were turned out overnight together in a large well fenced area with grass and water and I felt very comfortable leaving them there. I would highly recommend this stable. We stayed only a few minutes away at a hotel.". . . (4/26/12) - "Great people there to greet us and settle our horses in for the night! Very nice facility and would stay there again as well as recommend it to any traveling horse folks! A+.". . . (5/9/12) - "Great people; very accommodating and easy to get in contact with. The place is very clean and the stalls are huge! I would go back again! Location is close to hotels and food and very easy to get in and out of." . . . (5/14/12) - "Thanks for helping our travels go smoothly!". . . (9/12/12) - "1st rate stable.". . . (5/15/13) - "Susan was so readily available it made everything very reassuring." |

| Comments: (Editor's Comments: Due to the large amount of feedback we have received on this facility, all of it positive, we've posted only the more recent comments. We thank everybody who has sent in so many nice comments.) (11/19/09) - "I can't say enough good things about Goose Creek, or Carl Richardson. He bent over backwards to provide exactly what we asked for. He has lovely big, SAFE stalls or wonderful, properly fenced grass paddocks. His farm is spotlessly clean, and just the sort of place a horse wants after a long day on the trailer. Carl helped us with hotel reservations, even gave us coupons for a local restaurant. The only problem with Goose Creek is that it's so lovely your horse may not want to get back on the trailer to leave! This was our last stop on a cross country trip, and Goose Creek was in a whole different class than the other places we stayed. If you are anywhere remotely near Goose Creek at stopping time, MAKE IT YOUR OVERNIGHT STOP.". . . (12/25/09) - "I cannot adequately express how amazing my stay at Goose Creek Farm was! I limped into the farm, experiencing engine trouble and Carl, the owner, made it his personal mission to help me! He has an amazing family, wonderful facilities and a genuine desire to help horse travelers! They have become family for sure!". . . (10/15/10) - "We went into Goose Creek Farm with 10 Polo ponies on the way to New York. This farm is close to I-81 Exits 7 and the paddocks were nice with plenty of grass and fresh water. Our ponies loved this place .It is a beautiful farm with very nice owners who recommended a good place for dinner near exit 7. Plenty of room for trailer parking and no charge. We received a 10 % discount at a motel at Exit 7 because we were customers of Goose Creek farm. The security was great with a locked gate at night and an owner who lives there. This is the place to stay with your horses on a trip .We'll be back.". . . (5/31/11) - "Wonderful host; perfect stabling for horses in a beautiful area of Virginia. I'd return here anytime.". . . (6/4/11) - "What a beautiful place! I will definitely stay there again. The stalls are spacious and very safe. Carl was so accommodating and kind. I just wish that I could have stayed longer. Annick First Class Equine Transport, LLC.". . . (6/5/11) - "I currently board my horses at Goose Creek Farm. Carl Richardson, owner, was waiting for me when I arrived to inspect the farm before bringing my horses. I was immediately impressed with the spacious paddocks, grass, cleanliness and order about the entire place. The barn and stalls are spacious and always clean. The round pen and riding arena are well kept and a great asset to the farm. My horses enjoy the hot and cold water in the wash bay! :-) I must say that Carl anticipates the needs of horse and owner and goes out of his way to make sure those needs are met. I definitely recommend this place for overnighters and boarders alike.". . . (6/5/11) - "We pulled into Goose Creek Farm around midnight and the owner was waiting for us at the entrance with a flash light so we would know where to turn in. Our stay was excellent with good stalls and paddocks with nice fresh water & lots of grass for our horses. The locked gate for the night was excellent security since we stayed in our trailers. We enjoyed the scenic mountains the next morning and the close proximity to Interstate 81. We will return to Goose Creek Farm next time we are in the Bristol, VA area hauling our horses.". . . (6/12/11) - "A relaxing overnight stay. Clean, safe, organized, and quiet. Carl met us at the driveway and helped us get horses tucked in and trailers parked. We stayed in our LQs on site and had a wonderful nights rest knowing our horses were safe and happy. Will definitely come back again!". . . (9/19/11) - "Great experience. We showed up late and Carl met us at the gate to guide us in. He had everything ready, and helped get our horse settled in to a large clean stall with water buckets filled and ready. We had a new horse that was hard to load and Carl’s expertise and assistance was invaluable. Great bargain, great facilities, and unbeatable friendly expert service and support.". . . (11/13/11) - "I was so impressed with the facilities at Goose Creek Farms that I have to share my story with anyone who is coming through Bristol, Virginia and needs a place to keep their horses. It is almost like the best kept secret. The facilities are very clean, fresh water daily, magnificent views, convenient to local restaurants, hotels shopping and interstate. The owner of the facility not only provides you with a place to board your horses, he watches over them to make sure they are taken excellent care of. Mr. Richardson has been around horses for many years, which is an added bonus for boarders. So, for anyone looking for a place to board horses, you can not go wrong with Goose Creek Farms. Blessings, very happy horse boarder.". . . (11/18/11) - "We stayed at Goose Creek on Oct 27th this year.Carl was a fabulous host and the facilities are top notch and in a beautiful setting. We highly recommend and will be sure to stop here again when we travel to VA. Ned and Rita.". . . (1/6/11) - "My husband and I stayed with Carl two times when traveling between Franklin, TN and Richmond, VA. Carl was friendly and informative. I loved having a large paddock for our two horses to stretch their legs after hours in the trailer. Everything was great! Bristol is 5 minutes away with any restaurant or hotel you would want but most importantly the facility is away from highway noise. Carl is always available and the entrance is locked at night for outsiders but not for your access. Would definitely stay there again.". . . (4/12/12) - "Mr. Richardson, thank you so much for letting us stay at your place. It was beautiful; you were so welcoming and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.". . . (8/9/12) - "This place was wonderful! The stalls and buckets were the cleanest I have encountered, the host was so nice and helpful, and it was within 5 minutes of tons of restaurants and hotels! We were traveling with 3 event horses and they were VERY happy over nighting there! It was storming when we were there, so we were not able to turn out, but had it not been, I would have also used the paddocks; they were quite nice. Driveway had plenty of room for me to turn my over sized four horse around.". . . (1/3/13) - "Wonderful place to stay. My horse had a good sized paddock with run-in shed. Owner was very personable and friendly. Gave recommendation of where to stay and we received a discount. Easy to get to and back to the interstate. Will definitely stay there again." | |||||||

| Comments: (5/26/07) - "Great locaton just off the interstate. Large pasture to stretch their legs. Met us off the interstate and guided us in. Good electric and water for our big rig. A must stay the next time through!". . .(1/16/08) - "Fantastic hospitality and wonderful facilities and scenery. Cannot recommend highly enough.". . . (4/23/11) - "We travel full time with our four horse living quarter trailer and four horses and Peterson Farms is a regular stop for us in Spring and Fall. Great people and great place to stay! Best place to stay in VA!". . . (8/31/11) - "Linda and Frank Peterson were absolutely fantastic. Our stay could not have been any better. They both helped us with everything. Their neighbor and our barn buddy was wonderful too. I give them a perfect score for a great stay. We will be back on our next trip!" | |||||||

| Comments: (9/6/12) - "What a pleasure to place our horses in the care of Kathlyn for the night. Everything was more then we had expected. Clean, spacious, and safe for both horses and our equipment. The farm is very close to I-95 with overnight lodging very close by. Kathlyn, was in the barn to greet us and made us feel like one of the family. We will definitely stay at Redfield Farms again in our travels from Vermont to Florida. Thank you Kathlyn for taking such good care of our horses and us. Jake and King, Beligan 2300 lb.+ pulling horses say thank you for the hay and the treats of fresh carrots was much appreciated." | |||||||

| Comments: (7/21/08) - "We arrived from Georgia around 18:00 hrs with two mares and a gelding, three dogs, and 27 cats. Ms. Anne was very helpful and accommodating. Our horses were kept in a pasture pen as my wife requested. Thereafter, we stayed in their magnificent guest apartment. The place had a jacuzzi, beautiful decor with American Indian motifs, lovely beds, a full kitchen, etc. It was like staying at a European spa hotel but at a tenth of the cost. To No End Farm is in Fairfield, Virginia, and I cannot but strongly reccomend it.". . .(7/29/08) - "This place is beautiful and easy to get to off the highway. The horse accommodations were great as was the lodging for those traveling. Anne was very pleasant and helpful and we very much appreciated her shifting her horses around to accommodate us at the last minute (a days notice). The view is beautiful, her minis are adorable - we wished we could have stayed and enjoyed the area a bit more.". . .(10/07/08) - "We arrived around 8:30 in the evening after traveling from middle Tennessee. Anne met us at the end of the driveway and led us up to the barn. Everything was immaculate and the stalls were ready to receive the horses. We were all exhausted after a week of showing and a long drive. It was great to be able to put the horses into the big beautiful box stalls with fresh bedding. (My horse immediately enjoyed a good roll in the fresh bedding!) After the horses were settled, we went up to the apartment. It was truly wonderful to be able to relax and get a good nights sleep. The apartment was well appointed and ready for us. I highly recommend To No End Farm to those traveling with horses. In fact, I am looking for an excuse to go back there just to get away and relax. The farm and the views are beautiful!". . .(10/9/08) - "We had to reschedule our stay several times due to changes in our closing at a home we were buying 1500 miles away, and Anne was always gracious with the changes. Once we got on the road with our 17-month-old gelding and our 13-year-old donkey, it was late, putting us at To No End Farm at 1:30 in the morning. Nevertheless, Anne met us at the gate, very awake and gracious, and had two very nice large, clean stalls ready, and then showed us to our room for the night, a very spacious and clean apartment adjacent to the barn where I could check in on Elliot and Earl. I was very pleased with everything and would stay there again.". . .(10/14/08) - "I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude and total satisfaction on my recent stay at your farm. The accommodations, both human and equine, were impeccable. Such facilities as you have make one want to travel just for the experience of the surroundings you provide. It was so rewarding to be able to stable Katarina in such comfortable lodging after the long, hard day on the road. The facilities were as immaculate as could be expected, and your hospitality was faultless. Being in the Shenandoah Valley gives you a beautiful canvas on which you have created a masterpiece of equestrian bliss...Thanks again for a wonderful, and pleasant stay.". . . (1/7/09) - "Great stalls and apartment. Horses and humans were both happy and able to get a good night's rest. Liked it so much we stayed on our way down and back. Fully recommend to travelers.". . . (1/9/09) - "We were trailering our daughter's horse from Ontario, Canada to Ocala, Florida, and To No End was almost exactly half way. Anne was so friendly when I called to make the reservation, I was sure it was going to be a good experience - and it was. We called at the exit from I-81 and Anne and her two grandchildren were at the driveway waiting for us when we arrived. What wonderful hosts all of them. Our daughter said the grandchildren were "adorable" The barn was very clean and the stall was lovely. Everything was so well set up. And the apartment - wow. From the beautiful big kitchen to the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom - most excellent. We will definitely be making reservations for our trip back to Canada from Florida, and highly recommend To No End Farm.". . . (1/11/09) - "To No End Farm is almost exactly half way between our home in Ontario, Canada and Ocala, Florida, where our daughter trains and competes for the winter. After reading the reviews here, we called Anne. She was so friendly, we felt good about making a reservation right away. As instructed, we called as we were taking the exit from the I-81 and Anne and her grandchildren were waiting for us at the driveway. The barn is lovely and the stall was perfect. My daughter's horse enjoyed a good roll in the fresh, deep shavings. Anne and her grandchildren were perfect hosts. My daughter said the kids were adorable. And the apartment? Wow - what a lovely place, from the big kitchen to the jacuzzi tub. Thanks Anne. We will be back.". . . (5/7/09) - "What a beautiful farm! Anne met us at the barn, along with her grandson. The stall was large and very comfy for my horse. My horse arrived with an injury and Anne was quickly on the phone contacting the vet. The full apartment to stay in was a very nice surprise. I would definitely find a way to stop here again. Thanks Anne!". . . (2/17/11) - "I would highly reccommend this horse motel. It has spacious clean stalls for your horses and Anne was there waiting for us at the end of the the driveway when we arrived. It was so nice to be able to keep our trailer hitched up and be right there with our horse. The accommodations for us were great too. It was a very quiet spot and we had a wonderful sleep." | ||||||||

Highly recommended facility.". . .(12/4/04) - "Great place - I've arrived at all hours of the morning and they have been very welcoming.". . .(10/10/05) - "Mike & Vicki are very friendly and extremely knowledgable about horses. I was amazed at the level of care they provided for our 'girls' during our relocation from California to the Richmond, VA area. I highly recommend this facility!". . .(12/9/05) - "Great people, they checked on my nervous horse several times during the night and moved him to the round pen once it was clear he wasn't happy in the stall. Clean and safe. Highly recommend for anyone traveling.". . .(12/13/05) - "One of my horses was injured during the few hours of turnout and they were very, very helpful in getting him to cross ties (very lame) and calling the vet and offering for me to stay as long as I needed.". . .(10/15/06) - "{The owners} were wonderful hosts and extremely accommodating.". . .(10/30/08) - "We stayed w/Mike & Vicki last year on Christmas week (Dec 22nd) and our experience was beyond belief. What else is there?". . . (4/5/13) - "Omgosh! Tammy where will we stop? No, no moving allowed! We pray for the best foryou and your family, however, so sad to hear you may move."

The personal attention that we received was excellent. I never worried once leaving my older horse in their care."

| Comments: (2/10/08) - "As a single woman traveling across country with her horse, this was a wonderful stop. We were well cared for and very, very safe. The facility is wonderful and the hosts are so welcoming.". . . (9/1/09) - "Extremely accommodating to horse's needs.". . . (1/7/13) - "Homestead was a great place for a layover while traveling. I have a very large mare and she was able to stay in a double sized stall for the night. Briana was very friendly and very attentive to all my needs, which is especially appreciated when you have traveled for 10 hours.bI recommend her and her facility." | |||||||
