Comments: (2/23/04) - "I had a lovely overnight stay at Oakdale Farms. It felt like a night at home. The breakfast that was made for me in the morning was fantastic. My room was cozy and the bed was very comfortable. There were spacious turn out pens for my horse, which was wonderful due to the long trip I was making. I hope I have the opportunity to travel through there again!". . .(1/24/06) - "Nice place, a little hard to get to.". . .(5/3/06) - "What a joy our stay was. We were 2 women traveling across country with 6 animals and it is alway nice to find people that are helpful and kind to us. Everyone at the farm was great and very friendly. The stalls were clean, lighted and great for the horses and mule. Caroline went over and above duty as my friend was sick. I was very worried about what I was going to do all day and what I was going to eat. Never fear, Caroline took care of me and I got to see some of the local appeal as I got to shadow her the entire day. Who knew that great Sushi was in Mississippi!! Caroline doesn't cook much but she did a great dinner for me (who knew that I could BBQ!!). I feel like I have a new friend and if I ever get back that way with or without animals I know who I'm staying with. Thanks Caroline, we talk about you often.". . .(11/30/06) - "Thank you for taking us in on such a short notice. The stalls were nice and clean. The horses were very comfortable. The beds were comfortable too.". . . (11/16/07) - "Caroline was very nice and ensured that I had dinner. The first night stay was stressful, as I got my trailer stuck. However, Carla was great. She works for Caroline and pulled it out with her 4x4. The stalls were nice and the bed was a dream. The only negative thing, that did not bother me were the animals in the house. If you have allergies it may affect you. Overall it was a nice place to lay your head.". . . (5/12/09) - "Had a nice stay, everything was clean and comfortable. I would recommend you get the pricing in writing as we were charged more than was represented on the website.". . . (12/31/09) - "I'll never stay in a commercial hotel again if I can help it at all, horse or no horse. I had trouble getting my horse to load the next morning and Caroline was able to give me a few pointers and kept an eye out for my kids as we worked through it. Breakfast was excellent!". . . (7/25/13) - "Huge stalls for the horses, and lovely rooms for the people. Very well organized breakfast bar. Experienced hostess. It is a little bit of a distance to places for dinner, so consider eating before you arrive."

Comments: (10-21-05) - ". . . the owner, was very helpful with the four horses, getting them put up and getting us back on the road. His ranch is very easy to locate, close to needed facilities for youself, stalls were safe for the horses, and a very nice set up. We stayed in the trailer and had a good nights rest ourself. Best of all . . . [the owner] . . . makes a very good host that enjoys people and horses.". . .(12/4/05) - "The family could not have been nicer or more accommodating. {He} checked on us several times enroute to his place. We arrived at around midnight and his son met us at the main highway and we followed him in. The stall was clean and ready for us when we arrived. The next morning PaPaw came out and checked to make sure everything was up to par. It was! We stayed around and talked to him and enjoyed every minute of it. If you are traveling between the East coast and Texas, this is a great place to stop for a day or two. We WILL be back!". . .(12/19/05) - "Very friendly and accommodating. Location handy to Hwy 49 out of Jackson. Highly recommend.". . .(1/14/06) - "Mike was a HUGE help getting us settled into his barn for the evening. He was our 5th night stop on our move to Florida from California. He came to town to help guide us to his place. We were so tired and he was a huge help to keep us from getting lost. He made sure we were settled and the horses were comfortable in his very nice and cozy barn. He was kind enough to shuffle a couple horse for our two who need to be close to each other. Mike, thanks for all your help and if you ever need a stop out here in Florida please feel free to email us anytime..Thanks again....". . . (3/1/09) - "Nice, clean, safe stalls. Mike was cleaning out our trailer almost before we could get horses out. Due to scheduling conflict, Mike fed our horses for us, really early one morning. Will be returning to stay here. Thanks for our GPS, would have not found place without it, kind of hard to get to.". . . (8/18/09) - "Just wanted to drop a note of THANKS to Golden Horse Stables. We stayed at Golden Horse Stables on our way out from Florida to New Mexico for the National High School Rodeo Finals. The place was not hard to find and Mr. Mike and his son were very nice people. Mr. Mike helped us get parked and set up for the night and even cleaned out my trailer for me. The stalls were good size and had fresh bedding. My mare was glad to get out and roll. My husband had dropped his keys and we didnít realize it until we were half way across LA. We called Mike, he found them and mailed them to our home in Florida, THANK YOU VERY MUCH MIKE!! See you next time we come thru your way.". . . (8/5/10) - "Folks at Golden are very friendly and helpfull. They do thier best to make your stay a good one.". . . (8/23/11) - "Disappointed that the host did not even look over the health paperwork we brought for the horses, makes me worried about unhealthy horses staying at the facility. The stalls were not completely cleaned out, watering and feeding containers were not clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. RV hookups possibly not adequate for larger rigs, they warned us about popping the circuit breaker if we used the microwave with the AC. We chose to keep our horses in the round pen overnight and they did fine.". . . (6/15/13) - "Mike and his wife were the friendliest people I've met in a long time. Down to earth and welcoming people. I've been traveling from Phoenix Arizona and Mississippi was my second night stop and they made me feel so welcomed. They came right out and greeted me and offered refreshments. Their stalls were so clean and they had water and fresh bedding down for my horse. Their property was beautiful. The next morning Mike was outside and offered me a wheel barrel to help clean my trailer out, that he also let me keep on his property for the night. This place was rated a 10 by me and I highly recommend anyone who has a horse to stay here if they are traveling."

Comments: (6/13/12) - "I was greeted with pure southern hospitality by Johnny. His ranch is in the making of being a really great layover. Very clean and close access from the interstate. John has a true passion for horses and people. John was up early checking the mare I had in transport. He noticed she was having a problem; a lot of folks would have missed the issue. He called me to let me know what was going on and made a call to a doctor over in Meridian, MS 25 miles away. He then hooked up to his 2 horse and away we went early Saturday morning in the rain. The mare was able to travel later in the afternoon. I intend to layover at Johns whenever I pass through. I recommend this facility to everyone. I made a real friend; very professional and a good horseman. You won't lose any sleep with John tending to your horses. Dan Neal, Deer Horn Valley Horse Transport Inc., Jamul, CA/Gainesville, TX. (619)846-8269.". . . (7/31/12) - "Good place for an overnight stay. Can only recommend. Big John was extremely helpful.". . . (1/15/13) - " Big John is a great person, he honestly cared about the well being of my horses, he treated me with very much respect! His facility was clean, had everything ready when I arrived! I knew my horses were safe, I was extremely satisfied! I would recommend this place to everyone!". . . (3/23/13) - "Who could beat ham, biscuits and coffee for breakfast! Prices were very fair and I hope to be back! Thank you Big John (and his side kick Boyd)!". . . (5/2/13) - "Thank you, John. We will be back. We all slept well and were rested and ready to hit the road this morning. Great overnight facility and great hospitality.". . . (5/12/13) - "We recently made the move from Arizona to South Carolina. Our schedule was a mess but we needed to find good lodging for our horse along the way. Big John's was able to accommodate us with less than 24 hour notice. We had two vehicles and my mother-in-law arrived at the barn before we did, however, Big John's was kind enough to unload the horse for her and get him set up in the stall so that he was settled when we got there. They dot their I's and cross their T's! They make sure you have the health paperwork so you feel secure the establishment is clean. Our horse was turned out in the morning for us so he got to stretch his legs before going back out on the road. Then to top it all off our horse was unwilling to get back in the trailer so they actually helped us load him back up. They went above and beyond, I would highly recommend them. Of the three locations we stopped at, they were by far the best. Thank you guys so much for all your help!". . . (7/29/13) - "We highly recommend Big John's Camp, he was absolutely wonderful on our overnight stop to the NBHA Teen Championship in Perry, GA. The stalls were awesome and the availablity of a roundpen and turnout pasture was much appreciated.". . . (10/2/13) - "It was so nice to be able to stay where our yearling was stabled. John has a bunk house that suited our needs. He stayed up late until we arrived and everything was ready. He was nice enough to call and check on us when we had a flat tire on our truck and were running late. I would highly recommend Big John's Camp. It was about half way between Ft. Worth and Atlanta. Thanks, John.". . . (10/13/13) - "Oct 2013 stayed in a 40 foot motorhome with 50 amp and water and our horse used the round pen and a stall. Friendly service and easy access and easy on and off. A nice stop. John made us feel very comfortable and we will stay by yearly.". . . (10/30/13) - "We had a great time at Big Johns! John was friendly and very accommodating. Made us feel like we were long time friends. Would highly recommend!". . . (11/10/13) - "I arrived about 2 hrs early, and John was out of the area. He had the stalls ready and then had someone meet me there to make sure my horses got settled in. I would highly recommend Big Johns to anyone traveling on I-20.". . . (11/30/13) - "Very convenient. Great place to stay. Will come back again and again. John treated us very well, drove us to the hotel and picked us up in the morning. Tank you John.". . . (12/4/13) - "John went out of his way to help with everything. Good place to stay.". . . (12/14/13) - "We had occasion to overnite at John's on 11/20/13 and found it to be very, very relaxing after a long day. The 'bunk' house is more like a 2 bedroom trailer with all the amenities and feels like you are at home. John is a great host and we will definitely stay again when the need arises."(3/29/14) - "I was very happy with my over night stay at Big Johns. He was very helpful and very laid back. It can be a little awkward and stressful staying at someone's facility with your horse because you want to be respectful and not make your host upset. I've been to some places that are very strict about the way you conduct your business. Big Johns was the totol opposite, he made us feel right at home going out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. The bunk house was very warm without the heat being on (30 degrees with 30 mph wind! It was COLD outside) so the place was well insulated. It was very clean no critters or creepy crawlys! I slept like a rock! It is in a really small town so don't get your hopes up on finding a red lobster, but there is plenty of places to grab a quick meal. Overall I was very happy with my experience and highly recommend this place for anyone staying in Mississippi. I will personally be using his place again when I pass through. Thank you for the great experience! Safe travels to all! PS- you cannot beat the price! VERY reasonable!"

Comments: (2/23/12) - "Nice folks. Easy access from I-10. Not exactly the Hilton, but functional and suitable for my needs. Close to Gulfport and Biloxi casinos and lodging. I'd maybe even trust them to hold my wallet when I went into town. Maybe ... ". . . (4/9/12) - "Charles was so great to me and my horse, Quincy. The property was beautiful and he bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed. He even let me turn out Quincy in his pasture (which was exactly what Quincy needed after a day on the road). A bonus was his great dog, Wiggles :-) This ranch was great and I would stay here again for sure.". . . (5/14/12) - "Chris and his crew were absolutely awesome! Made us feel right at home, let us turn out an anxious horse to run it off, and was really helpful with settling in my four horses for the night. Definitely will be staying there again!". . . (10/13/13) - "Oct 2013 Our horse loves this place and so do we.We stay in a 40 foot motorhome with 30 amp plus water and our horse stays in a stall at night and pasture by day. Our horse is so calm here that we feel we can go out to eat as well as go to a casino. We also know that Charles and his wife will take good care of our horse. They even have a camera in the stall to check on him at night. Improvements are constantly visible in our bi annual stop, from trimming trees for the motorhome, new paddocks, guest quarters lofted over the barn to improved horse wash. Excellent horse care is number one priority in this tranquil stop."

Comments: (10/27/12) - "Delicious home made cookies, snacks and drinks provided in rooms. Not much in way of nearby restaurants but I came prepared with pizza to reheat. Very accommodating owner/staff.". . . (11/8/12) - "I had the opportunity to stay at Horse Haven while moving across country with my horse. We had a fabulous stay at Horse Haven. The facilities were fantastic and the hospitality of the management was second to none. The grounds are beautiful and have a lot to offer beyond just an over night stop. I look forward to the opportunity to make an extended stay at Horse Haven to take advantage of all it has to offer.". . . (12/5/12) - "I had occasion to stay at Southern Horse and Outdoorsmans Club ( AKA Horse Haven) recently with my horse overnight during a co-hosted trail ride. Owner Cindy Gascon and her lovely daughter Brooke Gascon were amazing!! They met me at the gate with a smile, helped unload and stable my Ornery Warmblood horses and made me feel right at home. Even though I came in very late you would have never known. They greeted me like it was 10 am :) The stable was AMAZING!! Very clean and neat and professional. Stalls were perfect size even for large horses. Nice clean shavings, I had the choice of view for my horses. The place was set up like any first class equestrian stable in the world with the added benefit of a nice apartment above the barn. The apartment was spacious, very clean and modern, beds were comfy and lots of clean linens; spa style towels....There are miles and miles of forested riding trails with water crossings. All the trails are beautifully manicured and wide enough for 3 to 4 horses to ride abreast. The facilities are world class, The apartments next to the horses were some of the nicest I've encountered but all that pales in comparison to the warmth and friendship of the owners Cindy and Brooke Gascon, 2 beautiful warm and friendly horsewomen. In this day of jet setting and frenzied pace it was nice to experience a truly family atmosphere and real southern hospitality. I feel like I made friends for life and I will be back any time I'm staying in the area with my horses. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions :) respectfully, Angi Wildacrefarms@live.com. . . . (12/7/12) - "Cindi was a wonderful, polite host; very accommodating and easy going. The stalls were a good size and the turnouts were terrific. She doesn't mind taking stallions unlike many others. We would definitely stop here again and would recommend it to others. We stayed on site in the apartment and were pleased with that, too. It was clean and tidy and even had coffee fixings and snacks. This wonderful gal is a pleasure to deal with. Nothing was any trouble. Thanks, Cindi; it was very nice to meet you. Jonn and JF.". . . (11/9/13) - " Outstanding southern hospitality. Absolutely recommend it. Beautiful facility."
