Comments: (8/29/06) - ". . . The facility was beautiful. VERY Clean! Our host was friendly too. They had a nice smaller indoor arena that we were able to let our horses stretch their legs. The stalls were large, open & safe. I just wish this facility was closer to the main freeway. . . . I would stay here again."

Comments: (10/4/10) - "Thank you Sara and Chad.". . . (11/5/12) - "Safe, roomy, well bedded stalls. Hosts live on site and in addition barn was closed up and secured for night. We were able to get a pet friendly room at the days end just fifteen minutes away with no problem.". . . (1/3/13) - "We cannot say enough nice things about Kathleen and her daughter. We had planned a one night stay at the beginning of a very long drive but had a truck breakdown. They were so helpful, friendly and supportive and everything you could ask for during a stressful time. Stalls are huge and were were able to hack both horses in their nice dressage arena so they weren't without exercise during our unintended extension. Nice place, even nicer people!"

Comments: (4/17/04) - "Great location and staff.". . .(7/19/04) - "This is a new facility which is wonderful. I had three horses and was late in arriving and Carol was so nice about it. Carol is a super person. Her facility is fantastic and I was totally at ease leaving my horses there. I would definitely stay there again and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone traveling through Idaho. I was traveling from Illinois to Washington and it is nice to know there are such great places to stay.". . . (7/29/04) - "Very nice place for horses. Plenty of room and shelter.". . .(10/18/05) - "Carol's setup is great & she had ample room for our trailer with sleeping quarters. She had everything ready & waiting even after we changed our date of stay twice. She's hospitable, friendly and it was a joy to stay at her beautiful place. We were traveling from Arizona to Oregon so it was great to pull in & get set up for the night. Thanks Carol!". . .(9/12/06) - "Wonderful place to stop, with easy access and plenty of room for our large trailer.". . . (6/12/07) - "Thank you so much Western Barns horse motel for helping us in with our new horse. I highly recommend this facility to anyone who needs to rest a horse in the Twin Falls area. The owner was so helpful, and the horse motel was easy to find and close to (human) lodging. I would rate western barns AAA+++!!! thanks so much, Carol, for helping take the stress out of a long haul! Sincerely, Mark and Shawn Wells, Wenatchee, WA". . .(6/15/07) - "Great place so stay, easy to get to off main Highway. Lots of room for a big truck and trailer. (we have a Freightliner with 40 trailer). Stayed here twice and will definitely be back.". . .(6/27/07) - "Even arriving after hours, Carol was warm and welcoming. The corrals were large and secure. I am telling all my friends to stay here on their way to visit!!". . .(12/5/07) - "Western Barns is **Absolutely** the nicest plave I've ever stayed while on the road. Carol made me feel right at home and I was so at ease, which is sometimes hard when traveling. Her horse facility is so clean and comfy for the horses and her bed and breakfast is the cutest and cleanest place!!!! I higly recommend her ranch to everyone traveling through Idaho.". . .(8/3/08) - "We called last minute and late in the evening and Carol had the stalls all ready for us as we arrived. We also stayed at her bed and breakfast and enjoyed it very much. It was very convenient." . .(8/12/08) - "Immaculate horse facility with a beautiful, clean and very well decorated B&B. I would give this place my highest recommendation.". . .(12-9-08) - "Carol was kind and accommodating for our family including my wheelchair-bound father in law. She even made us dinner for an extra charge at our request (it was good-thanks again!). Our horses liked the arena turn out and the barn. The house accommodations were LOVELY, you can tell how much time she took to make it special. Directions were good, ask to go the long way if you have a manual transmission...Thanks Carol and your friendly, dog, crew for an excellent first stop heading east from WA to SC!". . . (6/29/09) - "Carol is a great host, she gave great directions over the phone. We travel with 2 semi trucks and 8 very large draft horses which the facility easily accommodated. Carol checked on our horses and freshened their water throughout the evenig. A very clean, well managed facility with a thoughtful, dedicated owner. We would definitely stay again.". . . (9/21/09) - "Facilities were excellent and Carol is a gracious host. We stayed at her B&B on the property and were very pleased.". . . (11/18/09) - "Carol has a very nice facility. Our mare had a good place to spend the night and my wife and I stayed in Carols Bed and Breakfast. It was nicer and more convenient than any hotel.". . . (11/21/09) -"I have overnighted at Carol's 3 times now (2007 and 2009) and have always had a great experience. I have AQHA show horses and this facility works great for them. Nice large bedded stalls, large fresh water tubs, good ventilation, but able to close doors to maintain temperature. Easy in and out for big rigs. Carol has always been courteous, greeted us, and is flexible. (sometimes we pull in late) Would definately recommend her facility.". . . (7/31/10) - "Highly recommend Carol's place. We will use it again in the future. Would recommend it to anyone that is traveling through this part of Idaho and is in need of an overnight layup!". . . (12/1/10) - "Arrived far after bedtime, Carol had everything ready for the horses after their long day.". . . (6/14/11) - "We stopped overnight in Spring 2010; Carol was very welcoming and gracious. I would highly recommend her place as a stopping point. Very quiet area, too, which is a great plus. ". . . (7/31/11) - "This was a great place to stay and keep our horses overnight while we were looking at other things in the area. Comfortable and roomy pens for the horses and relaxing atmosphere.". . . (2/20/14) - ". . . We stayed overnight at Carol's on our way from Calgary, Alberta Canada heading to Reno for a horse show with our two horses. Carol had everything ready for us when we arrived--and we were quite late . The horse barn was spotless and well prepared. Comments: (Editor's Comments: Due to the large amount of feedback we have received on this facility, all of it positive, we've posted only the more recent comments. We thank everybody who has sent in so many nice comments.)
(8/10/08) - "Upon our arrival on location the owners were very down to earth and competent. Their facilities were easy to turn around in and made for a safe unloading and loading experience. Stalls were clean and secure. I would reccommend this stay over motel to any equine transporters. Feel free to e-mail about more details relating to my animals'overnight stay. Sweet71599@aol.com". . . (8/19/09) - "Our second time staying here. Great little ranch with easy access to Lava Hot Springs. John and Shelly go out of their way to make you feel at home and treat your horses as if they were their own. We highly recommend and our daughter will continue to stay here as she hauls back and forth to college at NMSU. We trust our daughter and her horses to John and Shelly's care. What higher praise sould we give?". . . (7/22/10) - "John and Shelly were more then helpful, they were really great to work with. We would definitely recommend staying there to anyone and I am sure we will stay there again. Beautiful place and beautiful people.". . . (11/11/10) - "J & S Ranch located in Lava Hot Springs, ID was superb. They were so great; they helped my arrival by having excellent instructions for me to get there, had everything ready and waiting for me and my horses and provided directions to lodging, meals etc. I had a layover with 2 horses and everything was easy. They provided a nice welcome in the middle of my trip. I would recommend this J & S to anyone!". . . (5/23/11) - "John and Shelly were excellent hosts. The hook up for my living quarters trailer was convenient and level and right next to my horse. Perfect. They met us at the top of their driveway after giving us excellent directions, helped us get settled, provided a clean stall and fresh water for my horse and made us feel more than welcome. They have a beautiful ranch, very peaceful and inviting. I will be sure to stay there again when traveling through their area. They are lovely people and made my short visit very nice, comfortable and safe for myself and my horse.". . . (8/14/11) - "Just a short note to describe our 2 nights at the J&S Ranch in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. The owners were exceptional hosts. We ended up staying 2 nights as we were treated like family. There were complete RV hookups for our living quarters horse trailer. We were on our way back to Colorado and found the site on the web. What a safe and relaxing time we had, never having to worry about the horses when we went into town. The Lava Hot Springs are not to be missed. Thanks agian, Chip and Linda Bishop.". . . (9/2/11) - "I recently trailered a horse from Escodido, CA to Charlo, MT and had the pleasure of spending a night in Lava Hot Springs. What a comfort it was for me to unload a horse at the J&S Ranch where you couldn't ask for nicer people. They had a large, clean corral waiting with fresh water, helped me unload my hay and clean out my trailer. (WOW!) I knew my gelding was going to be safe and secure for the evening so we could enjoy a fun, relaxing time in Lava Hot Springs. The 10 minute drive off the Interstate is WELL worth it. (Trust me!) John's communication was fantastic! He was prompt at my very first inquiry and throughout my entire journey. If I ever have the opportunity to travel that way again, you can bet I'll be staying at Lava Hot Springs and my horse(s) at the J&S Ranch. Thanks John & Shelly -- you made that trip bearable. P.S. Twenty bucks ain't near enough!". . . (9/5/11) - "Thank you again John and Shelly for this wonderful stopover on our way home from our West Coast horse adventure. I had originally asked for 3 inside stalls but after our first stay in Vegas, knew it wasn't what our horses needed, but was remiss in calling you. You had no problem with our request and put all 3 horses in one big pen outside, even after getting the inside stalls ready. Recommened a Thai place for dinner and we dry camped in our trailer on their property. Made it to the hot springs for a dip and back to sleep; the best sleep of the whole trip - best star gazing too, no light pollution. Thank you for being such knowledgeable and kind horse people. If we're traveling through again we'll be back. Kathy and Andy.". . . (9/5/11) - "We were very pleased with our one night stay at the J&S Ranch. The owners were both very friendly and helpful with the booking and with the accommodations during our stay. They had large, very clean stalls indoors as well as clean large corrals outside. We chose outside with the good weather. The ranch is beautiful and our horses were very comfortable and were able to rest up for the rest of our journey from Montana to California. What I especially appreciated, without my asking, was that the owners left a night light above our trailer on so that when we arrived the next morning to hitch up in the dark, we could see what we were doing! Thanks John! Being on the road for 3 days, it was a very nice surprise to find good and friendly people to trust our horses with so we could rest up at our closeby hotel. We recommend the J&S Ranch strongly!". . . (4/4/12) - "Very nice folks and a great place to stop for the night. Will definitely stop again when travelling this route. Thanks again. Cam Fleury.". . . (4/30/12) - "We boarded our horses with John & Shelly, 3/31, on our way thru from Kansas. They were perfect hosts and even gave us a list of names & numbers to call of the local B&B's-that was really helpful. We left our truck and trailer there over night, and got a room. Thanks bunches, John & Shelly!"

Comments: (4/14/13) - "Nice place, horses have room to stretch. Patty let us use her two round pens for our 4 Girls. She also offered us a nice grassy pasture. There is a nice indoor arena for use and Patty let us use her office and restroom. It's not far from town. Thank you Patty for letting us take a break at your place.". . . (8/11/13) - "This was a great experience. We rolled in after midnight but Patty was right there to sign us in. I would highly recommend Otter Ranch Stables to anyone hauling long distance and wanting to give their horses a break. Thanks again Greg and Patty.". . . (7/27/14) - "Took me in last moment when I had trailer problems east of Boise. They waited up for me but didn't charge me a late fee.
