| Comments: (12/18/06) - "Very nice place, convenient to I-40. Friendly, great large stalls. Will come back again! Will also recommend for other travelers. Thanks, Lois.". . .(2/8/07) - "This is a perfect place to overnight your horses. Very nice owners and super clean barn. No problems at all. Will use again for sure.". . .(3/2/07 - Editor's comments: The facility now has hired help to monitor the place 24/7).. . . (5/7/07) - "We stopped here on our second night of a three day trip from NJ to Texas. Our first night we got stuck in an ice storm and stayed in a parking lot...so we really needed a good place for the second night with a stall for the horse to properly rest in. The owner was friendly and waited for us to arrive even though we got there in the dark, later then we thought we would arrive. The facility was very clean, brand new and a much needed haven for the night. We stayed in our camper (electric and water were available) so we have no comments about proximity to human food and lodging but I would recommend this place to anyone needing a stop over for the night. Very easy access to the highway, enough room to turn a big rig around and the owner could not be nicer! I would stay there again although I am thinking twice about ever driving so far ever again!!!". . .(8/4/07) - "This is a great layover facility, clean & safe. The owners were very helpful. The location is close to the hotels in Forrest City. Although no one is on site 24 hours I felt the horses were safe.". . .(9/23/07) - "This was a great stop on a long trip home to Texas. The facility was very clean and safe. There wasn't overnight monitoring, but we stayed on site in our living quarters so it wasn't a concern. Thanks for the hospitality. If we make a trip back through this area we will definitely stay here again.". . .(11/4/07) - "Great place to stop at; new facility with large stalls and very clean. Hostess was not especially friendly; but in all fairness, we called late, got there late, and had 5 head to house and feed. I would stop here again at any time. Very convenient off of I-40, and close to motels and food. NICE STOP!". . .(11/27/07) - "We came in late. The owners do not live on site but they allowed us to come in and let the horses stay. Nice place very clean. close to the highway." . . .(5/25/08) - "Owners were waiting for us even though we were arriving late. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The facility is right off the highway and easy to get to. Hotels and restaurants were 5 min. away. It was a great place to overnight after 15 hours of driving.". . .(10/18/08) -"Will stay there again. Good place.". . . (6/15/09) - "We were very pleased with the horse hotel and stayed there on the way to and from our destinations and would stay there again and again as we pass through. It has very easy access from the highway. Thank you for offering a nice facility to traveling horse owners.". . . (8/30/09) - "We travel at night for the comfort of the horses meaning we "over- day" instead of "over-night". Pam was completely accommodating to our 4am arrival and 8pm departure. Facilities are excellent and her husband pointed us to a local catfish place for supper which was excellent. Although we "horse-camp" frequently, this was our first time hauling our horses for this distance (GA-OK) and this stay enabled our two horses to recuperate for the remainder of the trip. We'll certainly stay there on our way home.". . . (12/21/09) - "Very friendly and accommodated my horse. Thanks. Star T Ranch - Fort Worth, Texas.". . . (7/9/10) - "This is a great place to stop with your horses. Very easy to get to, and stalls are very comfortable for the horses. Stayed there June 2010. Would definitely recommend to anyone.". . . (8/3/10) - "We've stayed here numerous times over the past 9 years or so. Pam is most helpful, the gate is locked at night, there are large stalls, outdoor extra long pens, and a round pen available. We will continue to stop here in our horse travels.". . . (9/8/10) - "We liked the stables going so we stayed heading back also. Easily accessible from the highway and was able to accommodate our big rig.The owners were very personable. The neighbor even visited to check in and say hi. Nice to know the neighbors were also around if anything came up. They had info on the wall for Vets and shoers in the area if we needed them.". . . (8/4/11) - "Extemely well-kept facility. Barn was spotless and secure. Malcolm, the barn manager, is awesome!". . . (10/4/11) - "Right off the interstate and close to hotels/food. Barn was clean and host was very friendly. Will stay here again when in area.". . . (11/11/11) - "Let me explain the negatives: Their man who cleans had not scooped when I arrived, but otherwise, place was tidy and clean. Security and monitoring were rated as a negative because this is a stand alone barn on a piece of property off the main HWY and you are all alone there. No home on the property! She leaves and locks you in (the gate). By nightfall, traveling alone, I was scared to be there. This place would have been a more positive experience for me if I was traveling with someone else. If you are alone and a bit of a 'fraidy cat, it's not for you. It's pleasant ... near a lovely orchard. It's as described. But I was really surprised when the host turned to leave and I learned that I was the only one on the entire property all alone. Hmmm." | |||||||

| Comments: (4/22/06) - "This is a very nice facility. If they have room for you, take advantage of their hospitality. I stayed less than 0.1 from this facility and that made it easy to check back on my guys after dinner before turning in for the night. Note: Directions on the web say 1 mile south of free way. Actually it is only about 0.1 mile. Easy to blow by it if you are thinking about a mile.". . .(6/30/06) - "I would highly recommend anyone traveling through Arkansas to stable their horses with the McMullens. They are wonderful people and the barn was so clean. Their place is beautiful. The motels are very close. We left my mare with them overnight as we traveled to Texas and again coming back. Thanks for everything!!". . .(9/20/06) - "Convenient, clean, safe and hospitable to say the very least!! We will definitely overnight here again if ever in the area. We were glad that we were asked for health papers. Darn good place!!". . .(9/23/06) - "Big Rig accessible. All the positive comments previously posted are echoed. Neatest kept place we've ever stayed at. The distance from Interstate is as stated in the directory - 3/4 of a mile, not 1/10 nor 1 mi.". . . (10/17/06) - "The best oasis an exhausted traveler with a horse can imagine-beautiful, safe, clean, secure, friendly, hospitable, and very close to the Super 8 which was comfortable and friendly and gives a discount if you mention Saddle Creek Stables.". . .(2/8/07) - "Great people. Really easy access from I-40. Would stay with them again.". . .(2/22/07) - "Nice people, nice place, good stalls, easy access to the freeway. Overall a great place to stay. Safe, clean.". . .(8/11/07) - "Extremely well-maintained stable with friendly, helpful owners. Very clean and safe with large stalls. Nearby Super 8 motel makes it easy to check on horses. Mosquitoes can be a problem at times but fly spray can take care of it. Would recommend to anyone traveling through Arkansas.". . .(9/24/07) - "I stayed overnight on my move from Ohio to Texas. The McMullens have a very nice setup. I wish I had known to make a left turn off the interstate (going west) and it's on the right. Nowhere to turn around if you take the wrong turn off the interstate. Host was present shortly after my arrival. He helped me unload, water the horses, fill hay bags, guide me to my parking spot, help me setup...was very helpful and friendly. Place is as represented. I was very happy with the cleanliness, attention to detail. Thanks for the chance to get a great night's sleep knowing the horses were in nice big clean sturdy stalls!! I needed it on my trek to TX!!! Hotel very close by but not much in the way of food close by.". . .(9/26/07) - "When we arrived, Jessie (host's rep) was there to make sure everything was taken care of in their absence. He even brought fresh "fried fruit pies" from his mom's bakery - and fresh home grown vegetables. We made new friends on this trip, Jessie and his daughter and the hosts, Patsy and Emil. We stayed on our return trip also. Restaurants are limited (truck stops on freeway) but there are OK places just south about a mile - in Hazen. Thanks and hello to all.". . .(5/3/08) - "Fantastic host. I accidentally showed up a day early (oops!) and was still received with open arms (and stalls!). Clean, clean, clean and very well organized. Thanks for the stay.". . .(6/16/08) - "VERY close to the highway - easy in and out, room for large motorhome & bumper pull.". . .(6/30/08) - "This stable was our first stop on our move from Tenn. to Calif. Patsy is a very friendly and accommodating hostess. The stables and grounds were immaculate. Our horses were very happy to see a lush green pasture to graze and exercise. Patsy also stabled our large dogs for the night. Easy to find and easy on and off to the freeway. Lodging very close. Thank you very much Patsy.". . . (1/6/09) - "WONDERFUL PLACE! SPOTLESS! And I mean SPOTLESS! I felt bad putting my pony in the stall to mess it all up! Right off the interstate, easy to find but far enough away to be quiet at night. (Yes, we were able to park our motor home there for the night and plug in!) Very nice host, lovely place! (When the sun came up in the morning and I saw his house I was like. "WOW!") We had no problem getting a 38 foot motor home pulling an 18 foot stock trailer in his well designed circular driveway. There was a round pen that I was allowed to put the pony out in in the morning for a little exercise, (which was great since this was our second night of travel of three...) and did I say the place was SPOTLESS? The only problem was that Jessie, the owner's partner (??) showed up to check paperwork and sign us in and my husband and he ended up talking for a LOONNGG time about farming! (Jessie was very friendly and I am just joking about this being a problem!! Actually my husband was so happy to have someone answer his questions about all the farm land we passed on the interstate) I would stay at this place again in a heartbeat! Highly recommended! And did I say SPOTLESS!?". . . (6/21/09) - "We just stayed over night about a week ago and everything was perfect. Great, safe, nicely bedded stalls. Super 8 was very close and reasonably comfortable. Great parking for horse trailers and easy turn around. Would highly recommend and would absolutely stop here again.". . . (4/24/10) - "Great place to stay with your horses. We were welcomes and horses and ourselves greeted and made comfortable. We were on our way to Arizona and stayed here again on our way back. Easy to get in and out and very clean and well kept. We will definitely stop again.". . . (12/15/10) - "Highly recommended. Spotlessly clean facility with kind and knowledgable owner who was extra helpful with our problem loader. Nearby Super 8 motel was clean and comfortable.". . . (1/2/11) - "Patsy and Emul are absolutely wonderful people; they were so helpful and their facility is wonderful. We were on our Honeymoon with our horses heading out west trail riding. We also stopped again and stayed on our way back home. We will make it a regular stop for now on. Thank you so much." | |||||||
