Comments: (7/7/19) - "Jeff was an amazing host. We were the only ones for the night we stayed but I am sure he treats all of his guests the same. We all agree we are coming back to this place for a vacation! Great covered pens and he let us turn our horses out in paddocks so they could stretch their legs once we got there. The views are to die for along with the sunsets and sunrises. The amenities at this place are great! They just finished building the Bath house which was amazing to use! They also have a washer and dryer to use as well! We were moving from MD to WA and this was our 4th stop.". . . (8/25/19) - "JC Stage stop was a very nice place to overnight with my horse. There were plenty of clean stalls, convenient water station and a very nice restroom. It is a very quiet and relaxing setting after a long day on the road. I would definitely stay here again.". . . (6/6/24) - "This is by far the best horse motel/camp I have ever stayed at. I live in Arkansas and have stayed at all of the horse camps there as well as 11 in others started. They have thought of every detail! They have access to 1,500 acres of trails and they are in the black hills. We only overnighted but I would have loved to have ridden there.". . . (9/26/24) - "We stayed at JC last year, while the facility and accommodations are excellent, the placement of horse trailers vs campers wasn't great. We were placed with our LQ trailer way on top of the hill farthest from our horses. There were campers there that could have been better placed higher as they were not traveling with animals. We planned to go back again this year, however we broke down and were unable to make it. We called a week ahead of time to cancel and were only refunded 1/2 of our $$, as we had to pay for our stay ahead of time. While I understand reservations are necessary, make sure you are going to make it due to their nonrefundable policy. Expensive lesson."

Comments: (7/7/24) - "Very clean and lots of space to turn large trailers around. The horse pen was large with shelter and water already available. Our horses had to share fence lines and water with other horses. No 30 amp hookups for us but they did have a bathroom available for use.", , , (9/9/24) - "We stayed here overnight 9-7-24 with two horses. We were so impressed with this place! The stalls were huge, had shavings down and water tanks filled. It was super quiet there and the view was astounding. We will definitely stay here again and recommend for our horse friends traveling through."

The owner and her daughter were fantastic and welcomed us with no notice, giving us and my horse a safe place to spend the night. Highly recommend!". . . (5/1/24) - "Nice place with easy access for almost any rig. Plenty of space to park, water tubs filled in turnouts, sturdy pipe fence and nice loafing sheds. A place I will stay again for sure.". . . Comments: (5/26/20) - We used the outdoor stalls. They were a little beat up, but served the purpose for a safe place to put my horse for the night at a good rate. The cabins were spacious and clean. The person who helped us settle the horse in was very friendly and super helpful. The Senator's Steak House at the ranch had great steaks.". . . (7/16/23) - ". . . I brought my show horses here and was pretty upset with the stalls- they are very run down. Also, they were dirty and without shavings. I was shown where to put my horses but then had to clean the stalls myself- they are just dirt with plenty of leftover manure and moldy hay in some corners. I was provided with one bag of shavings to put over the dirt. The roads have some big ruts from rain which was hard to navigate in my large trailer. As far as security, it is a public place and occupants can walk around the barns and on a walk way over to be goat/donkey/etc pens that are next to the barn. I also stayed in a cabin on site which was tidy enough but not very clean; my shoes stuck to the floor. I will not be coming back."

Comments: (5/27/11) - "Dennis and Maryanne have a beautiful barn/stalls and were outstanding and helpful hosts! We've had the opportunity to see a large number of "horse hotels" as we've moved all over the country with the military and this facility is truly among the best we've seen anywhere. Highly recommended!

(Editor's Comments): Due to the large amount of feedback we have received on this facility, all of it positive, we've posted only the more recent comments. We thank everybody who has sent in so many nice comments.
(7/31/16) - "Very nice facility in close proximity to Jackson, the Tetons, and Yellowstone. Very friendly hosts. Very much enjoyed our stay, using the hot tub, and hanging out on the deck. Horse trails accessible from the property.". . . (8/10/16) - "You will not find an owner/host more accommodating, congenial and knowledgeable than Pia. We enjoyed our stay.". . . (9/20/16) - "We just returned from a three week vacation to Wyoming. Our 8 night stay with Pia Valar was one of the highlights. She offered trail suggestions based on what we wanted to do . . . all of which were great. She is located just south of Jackson so we mixed up riding, hiking, and shopping. Location, location, location!". . . (8/26/18) - "We stayed at Valar Horse Motel for four nights with eight horses for some pleasure riding and fishing in Teton National Park. The facility is absolutely spotless. The stalls were safe and cleaned twice daily. Pia, the owner, was so accommodating with every need that we had and she has wonderful recommendations for riding trails and fishing. If your travels take you to the area of Jackson, WY, there is no better place to stay and board your horses.". . . (7/3/20) - "We enjoyed our stay there, it is a small facility but she is a master of getting your trailer parked into a site next to her yard. The horses had a stall and run. It got cold that night and she offered blankets for our horses. She had really good weed-free hay that was $18 a bale and my mare loved it. I had run into very high winds and my awning was sucked out and torn off when I arrived. She helped me get the arms rolled out and we cut off the awning and reset the arms and tied them down.". . . (6/2/21) - "We were warmly welcomed after a long drive by a happy, gracious, considerate hostess. The facility was easy to get to and accommodated our large rig without difficulty. Very close to Jackson Hole and an easy drive to Yellowstone. Highly recommend!". . . (8/13/24) - "I live full time on the road with my horse and have stayed at dozens of horse motels. This is one of the best!! It is also unique. If it weren’t for a very experienced, hospitable and highly-organized owner, it might be chaos since RV space is tight. But it works so well due to years of perfecting. The riding near this residence is some of the most spectacular in the US. You need to reserve way in advance, it books up years ahead. Or you might luck into a cancellation. It is on the higher end of pricing but so worth it for the once-in-a-lifetime chance to ride in the Teton NP."

Comments: (7/7/24) - "5 stars for sure! Debbie & Ray were the most AMAZING hosts. We stayed 4 nights in our living quarters trailer & immediately felt at home. Our horses had it made in a large beautiful pasture & our 4 dogs had tons of fenced in, safe acres to roam. The cabin is beautiful & we plan to bring friends back with us next time to stay in the cabin. We rented their smaller trailer to be able to go up & ride in the Big Horns area only about 45 minutes away as well as rode in Red Lodge, Montana too. This is a great location offering a quick, easy one hour drive to Cody, WY as well. So many options. Excellent people. Loved it!"

Comments: (1/4/18) - "Great place to lodge your equine. Motels very close by. Highly recommended.". . . (1/13/21) - "The NICEST folks to do business with! Safe, clean facility, bedding, and offered help& hay at midnight. An Oasis on “I-80”. (My coggins & CVI were also checked by them). Thank you!". . . (7/7/21) - "Great place to stay for a very reasonable fee. Clean and neat, had the option to keep our horses outside vs stall. They enjoyed being able to move around. We parked our LQ right there also by the horses. We were greeted on arrival which was really nice; great place to stay.". . . (10/23/21) - "Great place, owners friendly, was very clean and well maintained. This is what a horse motel should be like.". . . (7/27/22) - (The following review will contain excerpts from the administrator after talking with the owner of the facility) "The fee was the highest I have ever paid for an overnight with my horse (12' x 12', bedded stall, $30) and no restroom that I could find. (A restroom is available). Owner did not get payment in person so I left a check. Will use the fairgrounds in Rawlins next time! (Several restaurants are one mile away.)". . . (7/31/22) - "My horses had a great stay here. Very clean, large boarding barn with safe, secure stalls. They checked on them periodically and texted me updates and made sure they always had water. They even fed them for me at night so I didn’t have to drive back from the hotel just to feed. The owners were very friendly and greeted us upon arrival. I would definitely recommend their barn for anyone looking for a safe and friendly place to board overnight.". . . (10/18/22) - "Great people, great place, horses loved it!". . . (1/12/23) - "Huge facility but very quiet and calm; just what a traveling horse needs at the end of a long day. Hosts meet us as we pulled in and showed us our stalls (clean and full of fresh shavings). I would have loved the ability to turn them out to stretch their legs and roll but it was in the teens during our stay and the outdoor area was frozen solid and pretty rocky. Out of anyone's control so no negatives from me 😁 10/10, would stay again!". . . (6/22/24) - "Very friendly host and easy to communicate with. If this had been my first horse layover experience, I would have been satisfied. I had just come from another layover and comparatively, the stalls at Rawlins Equestrian Center were very sparsely outfitted with shavings - kind of a bummer after having my horses in the trailer for such a long time. Owner lives on site so I guess there is 24 hr monitoring, but I didn’t get the feeling that my horses would be checked up on. Overall a “neutral” experience and yet I am grateful for having been able to give my horses some downtime from traveling there.". . . (8/26/24) - "They are not returning calls or emails, so I am wondering if they are no longer offering horse motel services."

Comments: (11/11/21) - "The host was top notch. Always caring about me and my horses. I arrived with one horse not drinking quite enough water. He helped with soaking hay, checking on my horses at 5am, checking throughout the day. His hay is excellent. His 2 dogs are an absolute joy. The driveway is nice and wide.". . . (9/5/23) - "This is an awesome facility, had a great experience! Very helpful and provided for all of our needs, we will stay here anytime we are in the area and HIGHLY recommend.". . . (6/22/24) - "Absolutely wonderful! Jim was easy and prompt to communicate with prior to our arrival, the facility is top notch and I knew he would check on my horses before the end of his day. The hay they have for sale is amazing quality and I am looking forward to returning here again next year. HIGHLY recommended!". . . (8/19/24) - "So thankful to meet such a kind person. Jim waited up 'til midnight for us to arrive at his facility. After 14 hours in the trailer, our horse thoroughly enjoyed the indoor area and indoor/outdoor stalls. Would come back horseless just to enjoy Jim's hospitality and charming nearby town. Local free hot springs are a must!". . . (9/29/24) - "7L and Jim is one of the best places we have stayed at! Jim is so accommodating and helpful. Very safe place for both people and horses. Looking forward to going back next year!"

A charming little log cabin built about 100 years ago; comfortable, cozy & quite peaceful. Just what we needed after a long day of driving. And fresh homemade cookies too!"

Comments: (8/17/18) - "Deb was very welcoming and helped to make both horses and humans feel comfortable and rested after a long day on the road. The stalls were spotless and very well maintained. There was even a large round pen for the horses to romp in before being stalled for the night. We will definitely be back.". . . (5/11/19) - "Awesome people and the place is clean and safe. Met me in the pouring down rain (which was being blown sideways) to help me settle my horse in. Pleasant and freindly and felt like they would take great care of my horse. I would stay again if the need arises and recommend them to anyone.". . . (8/30/19) - "Deb and Bill were very helpful and friendly. Facility is clean, safe, excellent for both horse and trailer. Highly recommend!". . . (4/21/20) - "Facility was great! Deb offered us many options for our mare and foal to overnight. Wonderful, friendly people and beautiful setting.". . . (5/17/21) - "A very clean, roomy place for our two horses, RV and trailer, and Field Trial dogs. Deb was very accommodating and welcoming! The area was quiet and the view of the Big Horn Mountains and surrounding area was amazing!! Definitely will stay here again!". . . (11/5/21) - "Deb and Bill were wonderful hosts. Transporting two weanling fillies to Kentucky. Deb recommended a wonderful motel (Mill Inn) in town for the night.". . . (6/12/24) - "This was my first stop at a horse motel. Deb came out to greet me as I drove in. Deb gave me a thorough tour of the facility and was very friendly and provided suggestions for food and human hotels. The ranch and all stalls were very clean and in excellent repair. A wheelbarrow and rake were provided to clean my trailer as well as keeping the stall clean. There were plenty of water faucets around to provide clean water to my horse. I will definitely stay here again."

Comments: (4/1/14) - "We were a party of seven with 7 horses and 4 rigs. We stayed for several days in the summer of 2013. Darrell and Bonnie couldn't be better hosts.. The facilities were great for us and our horses. We could use the campgrounds stock trailers to haul to the mountains rather than move our living quarters. Darrell was able to steer us toward the best areas to ride. We hope to return again.". . . (7/30/17) - "On our 10 day journey, this place was by far the nicest that we have stayed, the most affordable, and possibly the friendliest. We blew a tire up the road when we were planning on traveling else where, but someone told us this was so close, so we hauled here and camped for the night. Full showers, great corrals, and a laundry mat! Every campsite has RV hook ups, as well as water AND sewage dump at each site! 100/10. We will be coming back on our next trip across the country."

Comments: (4/25/24) - "What a fabulous gem!!! I highly recommend this facility!!! It was clean, pens were spacious and lots of room for my trailer! The host was terrific and so helpful. The facility is marvelous, quiet and clean!!! I also got to play with lots of puppies which made my morning!!!". . . (7/14/24) - "This place is amazing! The horse accommodations were very nice and we were very satisfied with stall sizes. We rented the Antique House and the Schoolhouse Room for human overnighting and upon initial inspection it is very cute and we loved it. The bed in the Schoolhouse Room was not freshly cleaned as there were mouse droppings under the pillows. They are new owners and just getting the place running. I would let this slide and give them a try if you need a layover. We would definitely stay again.". . . (10/4/24) - "My horse and I had a relaxing and safe stay at Cottonwood Creek Ranch. It is a lovingly restored home from the early 1900's filled with antiques and nostalgia. My horse had a large paddock with a run-in shed and automatic waterer. My room was cozy and very inviting. I highly recommend it and will plan to come again when I pass through."
