Turn out the next day was welcomed. He was there for us when J. was very ill and we needed a quick place for layover. Rates were reasonable. Thanks again, Jim.". . . (8/15/13) - "I want to shout out with a hearty thank you to Jim and the wonderful folks who stay at his barn. We needed a 3 hour stop over to rest the horses on a long haul and this was just the haven we were looking for. Friendly, clean, calm. I will definitely return and recommend whole heartedly. Jim, please give Ed my email address in case he wishes to sell that TWH Mare! Shelagh.". . . (7/16/15) - "Jim Agner was great. We pulled in last night to off-load horses; everything was great. This morning, starting at 6am, one filly would not load. Jim helped us all day to get her loaded and Jim finally got her at 3 pm today. His patience and understanding was so great and over and beyond. Thank you, Jim and family. Highly recommend this horse motel."

(8/30/17) - "We contacted Joyce and Terry prior to our roundtrip to Wayne, IL from New York for accommodations for our horse and ourselves. What a great choice we made. The amenities were perfect for both our horse and us. Terry and Joyce are the most down to earth, pleasant individuals you'll ever meet. I hope we some day have the opportunity to stay with them again.". . . (7/10/18) - "Great place. We have a long, 4 horse LQ but they had plenty of room to turn around. We used one of the turn out pens. Fencing was perfect; no barbed wire. Clean with fresh water in tub. Great facility, clean and neat, right off the interstate. Owners friendly and knowledgeable. Stayed there on the way and planned our return trip so we could stop there on our way back.". . . (7/17/18) - "Wow! Maple Crest farms is such a wonderful place to stay! Joyce went out of her way to make sure our horses and people were comfortable and had everything we needed, even coming in shortly before midnight. Very easy to get to from interstate and very reasonably priced. Clean and neat facilities. We'll be back!!". . . (8/9/18) - "My status of traveling was from upper Michigan to western new York. On this leg of my trip and I don't have enough words to describe how wonderful this farm is. The welcome I got was PHENOMENAL. I'm traveling alone, Chicago traffic put me back quite further than I expected. My arrival time was supposed to be 7:34 pm; I arrived at 9:30 pm. Thankfully this is easy right off the exit as I blew a tire on my trailer. I had about 3 miles to limp and immediately Joyce knew somebody to call. The facilities are BEAUTIFUL and accommodations in the living quarter of the farm are outstanding. I prefer a soft bed and after the day I had, I laid down and my body thanked me for choosing this wonderful place. I would highly reccommend this farm to any horse travelers. I feel my horses are over 100% safe and comfortable and my truck and trailer are on private property vs a hotel parking lot. 5 stars hands down from me and I'm pretty dang particular where my horses sleep.". . . (6/15/19) - "We stayed for 2 nights. Wonderful place and friendly helpful owners.". . . (11/5/19) - "WONDERFUL facility, everything was very clean and up kept. We called around noon of the date we would arrive, no problem for us to lay over that night. The weather delayed us quite a bit and the host was still extremely accommodating. It was raining, 40s for temperature and the wind was 50mph, the host insisted we pull into the indoor arena with our 30+ ft trailer to unload and camp inside that night. By the time we got there it was late and many restaurants were closed, the host got us a frozen pizza from her own freezer. Talk about above and beyond! So happy we stayed. Nice automatic waterers in the stalls and everything was super safe for the horses. Access to a bathroom in the barn was a big plus, will definitely be stopping again if we're on that route!". . . (6/10/23) - "Maple crest horse farm is so convenient to the highway. The owners we're so friendly and helpful in getting me situated into the stalls. The stalls were of adequate size for my big horses and they had automatic waterers so I knew they always would have water which was great. The parking was very good. I would highly recommend this facility for anyone traveling and needing an overnight stay."

Comments: (6/25/22) - "This is by far the best layover facility we have stayed. Tonya and Gary were more than kind and accommodating! They joined us for dinner and drinks at a restaurant in town they recommended, sent us to the best ice cream shop we’ve ever been to, and even left us muffins on our trailer for our early morning take off. The absolute best people.". . . (8/7/22) - "Great stopover. Nice host.". . . (7/8/23) - "Super nice stopover and great host.". . . (10/3/23) - "I cannot recommend a stop more. They were very hospitable and kind, their facilities are lovely and they are accommodating. You can either plug in a trailer, or for a bit extra they have a camper all setup to rent for the night on site. Highly recommend!". . . (10/14/23) - "Absolutely terrific hosts. Very clean facility. Would definitely use again.". . . (3/28/24) - "I can not say enough good things about Tonya & Gary. We came to them due to an emergency as our truck broke down on the highway. They got us set up and helped with horses and everything. They offered us the use of their car. The stalls are huge and clean. Their facility is a work in progress. However, they are in the process of up grading and it is going to be gorgeous! They also have a casita if you need use of one. They have an indoor and outdoor as well as outdoor paddocks for your use. Again, I can't say enough great things. They took us in and treated us like family and made a terrible situation just a bit better. If you get the chance, you have to stay here. I'll be back in June and am happy to say I wont just be staying at a motel, I will be staying with friends."

(6/30/23) - "We had a great layover with Sarah at Bit of Heaven Farm. The paddock was clean and beautiful with sunny and shady spots. We could look out and see the boys whenever we wanted from the comfy room we stayed in. The farm is an easy drive to town which has a nice farm supply store and several great places to eat. She went out of her way to help us find a place to buy a piece of equipment when ours had broken and to get us advice on the best highway to take across New York. Hopefully we'll get to stay there again.". . . (7/13/23) - "This beautiful farm was our overnight stop for myself, husband, 2 pups and my mare. I can not say enough about how wonderful our stay was! Everything was perfect and we all got the much needed rest to finish our journey. Beautiful, clean, comfortable accommodations for horse and humans. Sara was a lovely warm hostess. Honestly we didn’t want to leave. It was a "Bit of Heaven" for sure!!!". . . (3/11/24) - "This was my second stay here and it was wonderful! We stayed in the pet friendly room and had two horses and a dog with us. The horses stayed in the paddock and were happy and dry. Sarah was wonderful to work with and very helpful. Although we chose not to leave during our stay she provided a list for possible dining and left us a small breakfast setup for the morning. I highly recommend Bit of Heaven Farm!". . . (5/20/24) - "Spectacular place, the barn was immaculate, almost new, super clean, Sarah, the host, was great, very friendly, very organized, even did night check for me. Probably the best overnight experience I've had.". . . (5/21/24) - "This was a beautiful farm to layover, traveling from Maryland to Nebraska. Sarah was very accommodating to our day of contact and arrival when our original plans had to be altered. Our 40ft horse trailer is 40 ft on the floor and we were able to fit and turn around with no trouble. Stalls were prepped and very clean. The horses enjoyed the turnout areas. Wonderful setting from a long day of traveling.". . . (6/6/24) - "Bit of Heaven Farm is an absolutely gorgeous, relaxing, and safe farm for horse and human guests to rest while traveling through Ohio. Sarah was an incredibly kind, readily available, and helpful host who provided just about anything we could possibly need for ourselves and our horses during our layover. The guest room, barn, and turnout spaces were very clean and well-maintained. I would highly recommend staying at Bit of Heaven Farm if traveling through Ohio!". . . (6/10/24) - "Wow! Sarah and her facility are first class. Travelled through Ohio and needed a one night layover for our party of three humans and two horses. We had a wonderful, comfortable, secure stay in her absolutely perfect barn and guest suites. Can’t say enough about the excellent communication and attention to detail Sarah provided. Our horses had beautiful, roomy stalls where they could see each other and look out the dutch doors to the wonderfully kept pastures. Our bedrooms were located across the aisle from the stalls and gave us total peace of mind. Sarah provided thoughtful snacks and coffee. Everything was immaculately clean. We truthfully didn’t want to leave. Highly recommend Bit of Heaven Farm! We hope to stay again!". . . (8/31/24) - "This was a very relaxing and refreshing stay for me, my disabled mom, and my horse. Hospitality of the hostess was extremely reassuing as we didn't have anything to worry about. Price was very reasonable and well worth it. I would definitely recommend this for anyone traveling thru the area.". . . (10/20/24) - "Excellent in every aspect: email, text or phone call, our communications were prompt and helpful; directions were clear and exact for driving to motel and finding operational items; impeccable facilities; A Bit of Heaven made traveling with my horse delightful, easy, relaxing and I want to return! I will be telling all of my horsey friends to plan a stay. Even if you do not have a horse, you would want to stay there."

(Editor's Comments): Due to the large amount of feedback we have received on this facility, all of it positive, we've posted only the more recent comments. We thank everybody who has sent in so many nice comments.
(8/30/17) - "Visited Shillelagh Farm on 8/16/17. Were very happy with the barn setup for our horse. There was room to drop our trailer (2 horse) for the night along with another 2 horse that was traveling with us. No major hotel chains nearby, but we found a very nice B&B called the Lost Pearl that was located about 3 miles away from the barn. Didn't seem like there were a ton of restaurant choices and we had to take a 20 minute drive to get to a gas station that had diesel. But would still use this barn again.". . . (5/1/18) - "Very nice place to stay. Quiet, clean and convenient. The host is very friendly and respectful. Highly recommend.". . . (6/10/18) - "Chris & Toby were very helpful. Toby met us to get settled and make sure we were all set. Very nice area and easy access.". . . (11/12/18) - "Paul was very hospitable and was happy to put my horse up last minute. Facility was clean and stall was ready when we arrived. Stable is close to highway and major hotels. Would definitely stay again!". . . (8/18/19) - "Great folks, very helpful and friendly. Very convenient to the highway also. Definitely would stay again.". . . (4/18/21) - "We stayed at Shillelagh Farm about 4 years ago and again this weekend. I would highly recommend them if you’re in need of a layover somewhere. Toby is incredibly friendly and accommodating. He had us call when we were getting off the exit and met us at the end of the driveway. He drove his tractor right up to the back of our trailer so my daughter could clean out the back of the trailer and dump it in the tractor bucket. The stall was clean with shavings and a water bucket had fresh water waiting. We have a 3H with living quarters and he had an extension cord waiting to plug us in. It is a tighter area for a large trailer, but easily maneuverable with backing up and readjusting. I only gave a neutral rating for security and monitoring because I don’t know if there’s cameras, etc. However, we felt completely comfortable as we were staying on site. I also gave a neutral rating to “proximity to human food and lodging” because we didn’t need it, so I don’t know what’s available. I would highly recommend and I’m sure we will be staying there again!". . . (7/2/21) - "Toby was on site to greet us and very helpful with unloading our horses and getting everyone settled. There was a small pasture adjacent to the barn which he allowed our horses to use to stretch out and the barn and stalls were very clean. One must be careful with a large rig but, with care, it is accessible and we were able to plug into 110V power which was all we needed. This will be our third time staying there and couldn’t be happier. Most of all, the owner couldn’t be more hospitable!". . . (10/1/21) - "Awesome horse hotel. Best part was Chris greeting us with a flashlight in the drive...no figuring out where we belong!!! We have a 38' living quarters and it fit fine. . . you do need to know how to back well. Facilities were very very clean. Fresh water waiting. We were going to take a paddock and out board and forgot we have a cushings horse (new to us). Chris switched without an issue.". . . (3/27/22) - "Toby and Chris were so nice and helpful! This is the second time we have used their facility for a layover. They were very helpful with food and lodging suggestions - all of which were close by. The horses were comfortable and well rested for the next days’ trip. We traveled with a 26ft horse trailer and a 20ft enclosed trailer - there was plenty of parking for both. Toby made sure the water buckets stayed full overnight and kept a close eye on the horses so we could rest and refuel. 10/10 recommend Shillelagh Farm.". . . (1/17/24) - "Thanks so much for putting us up during a horrible winter storm. Host was very welcoming and the barn was very comfortable on a very stormy night."

(10/19/23) - "Robin hosted my parents for a few days and everything was perfect. They were able to communicate with her even though they speak very little English. She really cares about you needing anything. Highly recommended.". . . (11/1/23) - "This horse motel was awesome. The host met us with a smile and immediately took my horse to his clean stall. Nightly checks, morning checks and videos sent. So very nice. I will plan on using this facility in the future.". . . (2/15/24) - "Robin has been really helpfull with getting us to the vet facilities when my horse had colics after getting off the trailer. She was there the whole time, very supportive and she made sure everything went all right with the horse, even after my departure. She was a blessing to me, helping get all I needed to get the horse back to health.". . . (5/7/24) - "While traveling home from Oklahoma to Massachusetts we were in need of a layover. R/C stables was close to the highway allowing us to stay on track and not have to drive out of our way. Robin was very responsive and advised us promptly they were able to host. They were there to greet us when we arrived at almost midnight with four horses! I was particularly impressed with how smooth they made everything. The entire property was immaculately clean and well organized. She and her husband, Chip, assisted us with settling in for the night, had the stalls ready with fresh shavings and water buckets before showing us the layout of the facility - which was especially helpful. Once again, thank you for providing such a delightful stay. I will recommend your stables to all and have stored it in my travel book! I look forward to the opportunity of returning in the future.". . . (8/27/24) - "Robin was a great host! She was prompt with replying and everything was as it was posted. Her stable is quiet and peaceful, perfect for our horses! They definitely loved being able to stretch their legs after a long haul. Would definitely stay again!". . . (10/12/24) - "R/C Stables was a wonderful experience, large clean stalls , great turnout for my horse to stretch his legs and do some rolling . There's a nice nature trail in their woods along a creek to unwind and walk the pooches . The facility is so secluded and, as they like one visitor at a time, very tranquil . I had the best sleep of the whole trip from KY to NY and back for a saddle fitting . I can't say enough about Robin and Chip's hospitality; they go above and beyond for you and your four legged companion's stay . You're treated like family and they adore their animals and visitors immensely. Stop and enjoy R/C Stables, it's a place that makes your travels more enjoyable and restful.". . . (10/19/24) - "Robin goes above and beyond to make sure you get there safely with great directions and checking on you along the way. The stalls are big, clean with bedding in and ready for horses. Her dry lot is big, attached to the barn. We felt very comfortable leaving to eat. She made sure we knew where to go to eat, get gas and get groceries. We have a 40’ trailer and had no problem getting in the driveway, turning around and parking.". . . (10/23/24) - "We layed over with our LQ trailer twice at R/C Stables. Robin and her husband were kind, gracious hosts, checking in on us to make sure we had good directions to get in and out easily. The facilities were private, clean and easy to get in and out of. They made sure we knew where everything was and had everything we needed. The hospitality was A+ and I will use this spot to layover again in the future as it is convenient for me to use running North/South from Michigan. Thank you for providing such a great rest spot.". . . (3/28/25) - "Lovely place to stay! R/C Stables was incredibly accommodating on short notice. Communication with owner was exceptional and everything was ready upon arrival. Owner provided care overnight so we could stay off-site. Horses were watered, fed, rested and happy upon our early morning return. Definitely recommend this facility and would stay again if in the area."

(2/28/20) - "We leave our horses with Shirley when we go on vacation. They are wonderfully cared for, the facility is beautifully maintained, and it is a safe second home for are boys! We highly recommend Plattsburg Equine Center, LLC!". . . (9/20/20) - "By far, the cleanest, neatest facility we have stayed in. Host was super organized and friendly. An absolute AAA+ rating!!!". . . (8/3/21) - "I would highly recommend Plattsburg Equine Center and the Mann's! We will be back again. They were extremely welcoming as I traveled alone on my way west with the TWH and dog. They allowed me to hook-up so my dog could have AC/heat if needed. They were very thorough with checking my health cert and records on the horse. They were also thorough with proper horse health biometrics when travelling... horses not using same water buckets, putting your manure in trash bags, thoroughly cleaning each stall after use. Very clean facility, easy in and out for all rigs. They also made sure we had everything we needed to get a peaceful nights rest before the rest of our journey west.". . . (8/4/22) - "Definitely my "go to" layover facility in Ohio! Shirley has an amazing place and is always waiting with a smile on her face. The barn and paddocks are safe and clean. Easy to get in and out with any size truck & trailer. Plenty of options for hotels and restaurants nearby.". . . (10/20/22) - "Love this place! Shirley runs an impeccable business. Stalls were ready, sanitized with ample bedding and fans to boot. Bring your own water and feed buckets. Easy to clean your trailer and plenty of room for large LQ trailers. I will be coming back thru this place and happy to stay!". . . (10/31/22) - "This is the best place to overnight your horses and rig! We were pleasantly greeted by our hosts upon arrival. It is a beautiful, safe, clean and welcoming place where the horses have large stalls or the option of large turn out areas for their comfort. I highly recommend this facility! Room for big rigs.". . . (3/6/23) - "Shirley was totally delightful. Everything was prepared and flyer with accurate directions was provided. Lots of room to turn around, so no backing. Super nice facility!". . . (4/17/23) - "A beautiful, well-maintained facility. We felt welcome, and our ponies were safe and happy. Great people. We will use this facility again.". . . I don't know what could be done to make this a better option for overnighting with animals...highly recommended!". . . (6/6/23) - "The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. They allowed our horses to be turned out for a little while upon arrival before putting them in the immaculately kept stalls. We have a 43 ft trailer and it was very easy to pull in and turn around. It has great access to I-70. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend.". . . (1/22/24) - "Fantastic facility with friendly hosts. Absolutely neat and clean as a whistle. It is a little out of our way traveling on I-75 but it is sure worth it! Cannot recommend highly enough.". . . (8/15/24) - "Outstanding place to stay! Comments: (8/28/22) - "This place was absolutely beautiful! Very clean, beautiful arenas indoor and outdoor. A a nice small arena for the horses to stretch their legs. The hosts were very friendly and lovely. The horses had nice big stalls away from other horses.". . . (9/18/22) - "Laurie and her husband were very accommodating when we got stuck in traffic and arrived late to their farm. Beautiful farm, Diane was away for a show but answered my request in a timely manner and told us her husband Jeff would be there in her absence. Definitely will stop again on our return trip if they have availability. My 18 year old daughter and I were headed to Colorado to her college and in the spring we will drive back though.". . . (10/30/24) - "Wonderful facility. Owners were welcoming and helped our horses get settled. Stalls were large, clean and safe. Quiet, private facility. Highly recommend to anyone needing lodging for their horse."
