Comments: (Editor's Comments: Due to the large amount of feedback we have received on this facility, all of it positive, we've posted only the more recent comments. We thank everybody who has sent in so many nice comments.)
(3/22/09) - "We stayed at Duke's one night while taking a horse from South Carolina to Colorado. It was the best night on the whole trip! A wonderful casserole was made for us and the barn was impeccable. I would plan a cross country trip around staying at Duke's! Hugh and Diane are the best!". . . (7/10/09) - "Lovely little place, well off the beaten path, but not too far off. Wonderful hosts, very nice accommodations for horse and human. Thank you!". . . (7/14/09) - "Hugh & Diane were wonderful--- I almost wish we were staying longer than 1 night...Thankyou both; we enjoyed your company and the horse shower.". . . (10/15/09) - "Very knowledgable and friendly. Facilities are well kept. Beautiful lush pastures that are well fenced. Stalls are monitored, and each has it's own turnout run.". . . (1119/09) - "We boarded our horse at Duke's and it went better than we could have expected. Very nice people and facility was clean and secure. There were even cameras in the barn that monitored the horses. Indoor arena was very nice to let our horse stretch her legs, stiff around, and roll.". . . (12/3/09) - "Diane and Hugh went out of their way to make sure we and our horses were comfortable after 10 hours on the road. We will definitely go back.". . . (5/25/10) - "My Husband & I had never stayed at a Bed & Board so, needless to say, we were a bit apprehensive. Upon arrival the greating was warm & freindly & you would have thought you were visiting family. That's the type of people they are. After spending hours in a trailer it's a great feeling for your horse to be in a very clean barn with overhead fans in each stall, a turn out pen & even a little porch for the horse. You have to check o ut the barn, the hospitality, & the views. To quote Dave it is a " 5 star place along with 5 star people" A BIG Thank You to the both of you; you're the best.". . . (6/9/10) - "Loved our stay with Hugh and Diane. We felt so welcome and at home. The house was a lot of fun since it had such history and decorated with things that a horse fan would be interested in.". . . (7/13/10) - "Absolutely charming place to stay! The owners were so nice and welcoming, the house was beautiful and had lots of character, and the horse facilities were safe, clean, and comfortable. Our two young horses settled in nicely and I felt very comfortable leaving them there. I would love to stay another night at this lovely facility.". . . (9/23/10) - "Great facilities, very kind owners, willing to go the extra mile. We had a great stay. Thank You! Hugh and Dianne were extremely patient, hospitable, helpful, and encouraging, especially for the 12 hours it took to load my stubborn horse. Both Hugh and Dianne were instrumental in getting my horse loaded and me back on the road. Thanks so much for the great stay.". . . (11/13/10) - "I stayed here a year ago, travelling alone with a young tb, two dogs, and two cats. I stayed on the property, in the guest room which meant I didn't have to unhook. I was able to turn a 38' four horse head to head around in their drive. Diane called me during the day to check on me and I ate dinner with the family. The farm is beautiful, and I walked my dogs that night and again in the morning in their fields. My cats were welcome to be free in the room and enjoyed being out of their crates. I would highly, highly recommend staying here. Its only a few minutes off the main interstate and well worth it.". . . (4/4/11) - "Hello Hugh and Diane, you guys were great and love your place. Stalls were great, safe, warm and very clean. Thanks for being ready for us, it made our travel home so much easier. You guys are great. Will see you again and would recommend your facility to all. Enjoy your retirement and will stop and stay again. Bye for now Bryan & Carol (Ontario Canada) Thanks for the coffee it hit the spot!". . . (5/7/11) - "Very accommodating for our children, horses and dogs. We appreciated the clean barn and stalls, the attention to detail and the camaraderie. A wonderful resting place for those traveling with horses! We will stop again if out that way!". . . (7/12/11) - "Beautiful place; absolutely amazing place. Loved the lightning bugs; it was so gorgeous. Our room was clean and we loved staying there; such a wonderful experience. I would recommend anyone going through Missouri to stop there with their horses.". . . (5/13/12) - "Great place, best horse motel we have ever stayed at. Owners are great people, know horses and make the stay very nice.". . . (6/26/12) - "This is an impeccable facility. Hugh and Diane obviously work hard to provide a safe, smart, secure and friendly facility, both for horses and humans.". . . (10/4/12) - "The Mooney's could not be nicer. They were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The facility was excellent and our horses enjoyed a good stretch and a good night's rest during our trip from East TN to KS. We highly recommend Duke's as a great place for the traveler and their horses.". . . (11/5/12) - "Can't say enough about this dear couple and their comfortable accommodations. Our horses enjoyed safe, clean, roomy stalls with run outs while my husband and I rested in the quaint b & b. We had a delightful dinner in Herman and came home to hot coffee and help getting our horses settled for the night. While we hope to only make one trip from Ohio to Oregon I would highly recommend!". . . (11/14/12) - "Even if I didn't have horses, I would want to stay here! From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcome. The horses were treated like royalty, my horse Phillip was really taken by Hugh. Thank you so much for everything, Hugh and Diane!". . . (2/3/13) - "Wonderful stay. Very warm & friendly couple. Nice room and nice facility. Highly recommend!"

Comments: (10/11/06) - "I would highly recommend this wonderful place to anyone traveling in the area!!! Not too far from 71, with beautiful rolling hills all around! My girlfriend and I spent a night there recently on our way from Texas to Iowa and loved it. The owners are very caring and helpful. The cabin is GREAT: spacious, cute, and clean. Ilene even offered us a home-cooked breakfast after our long travels the night before. The horse barn is new, clean and secure. Ilene and Irvin are knowledgable horse people with hearts of gold! We woke up refreshed and so did our horses. It is definitely worth the stop. My husband and I will be visiting here again! Thanks for everything!!!". . .(11/15/06) - "We stayed there and we LOVED it. It was the quiet country kind of place, Ervin and Ilene were absolutely wonderful, the barn was great, I felt my horse was as safe as if it were at home. We will definitely be back!!". . .(12/8/06) - "We absolutely loved our stay at Rawhide, Ervin and Ilene were wonderful and very nice. We were traveling with a mare and foal and their 10' x 10' stalls have a center gate that opens up and makes it in to a 10' x 20' so our pair was comfortable and had plenty of space. We will be back to watch a rodeo and have some more of Ilenes GREAT cookies.". . . (12/8/06) - "We stayed here while passing thru and we felt like this is a place that everyone would be welcome and feel at home while their horse is just as welcomed. The stalls are large and the center gate opens to double the size of the stall. Ervin and Ilene were nice and we will be back here. We LOVED it.". . .(1/23/07) - "We loved our short stay at rawhide and will be back to see more of the wonderful place.". . .(4/25/07) - "We dropped by about a month ago and we thought they were absolutely wonderful. The stalls were nice and clean and the help was great. We really liked how they treated us and our animals. The cabin was really nice and Ervin was very insightful in equine health and we will be back for events here this summer.". . .(12/12/07) - "We had a great time, and it was so quiet out there in the country. The cabin was very cozy. Our horses felt right at home and everyone there treated us like family. We will definitely be back to watch some of the rodeos next summer and the Extreme Cowboy Competition with Craig Cameron.". . .(7/28/08) -"We stayed in Ervin & Ilene's cabin which was the greatest. We kept 5 horses in their stable for 4 days. They took as well if not better care of our horses than we do. They are the friendliest people that we have ever stayed with and, believe me, we travel. While we were staying at their facility, we were fortunate enough to stay during one of thier rodeos. It was fantastic. The kids loved it. Great pictures. They have a restaurant on the grounds and very affordable. We definitely will be staying whenever we are within traveling distance of Rawhide Stables."

We highly recommend this facility.". . .(1/111/08) - "God bless Brenda and her flashlight. Just as she said, great hospitality... easy access and she gives very explicit directions and we all know what a blessing THAT is. Thank you.". . . (6/3/10) - "Moving cross country from Tennessee to Washington with horses, dogs and kids. Hostess was extremely accommodating, kind and gracious. Facility was terrific. After horses in trailers all day, she had a wonderful turnout pen that was a wonderfully secure rest place for tired horses. Beautiful stall's were available if needed. Trailer parking and turn around were very good. Will return again with the second set of horses.". . . (11/11/10) - "I have been useing horse motels for years, and Brenda Green's hospitality far exceeded my expectations. Safe, clean stalls, easy accress to interstate, very friendly accommodating host. I will be back.". . . (12/12/10) - "Great place, would highly recommend it. Parking might be a little tight for huge rigs but at 60' we didn't have any problem. Brenda even had heated water buckets with water in their stalls on our arrival. Very clean, comfortable, safe stalls....nice pleasant place, as your host is.". . . (10/23/12) - "Wonderful farm and people. They greeted us at the road with flashlights and directed us where to go. Nice grassy paddock for turn out. Fresh water provided before we arrived. Comments: (11/12/08) - "The facility is clean, easy to get to. The stalls are clean with water accessible. I travel to AZ from IL for the winter and stay there. The owners are nice, absolutely no complaints.". . . (12/30/08) - "This facility is great! Stalls are the biggest we have ever had--great for large breed horses. Easy to get to and turnaround. Owners were very hospitable. Great recommended stay!". . . (2/13/09) - "I used MD Equine Center in Jan '09 and again in Feb '09. It is the most convenient horse motel I have ever used; a half mile from I-44 exit, and five miles from motels and restaurants. Very clean, large, safe, stalls, good lighting, lots of room, and friendly hostess. I will be back, I could not be more pleased.". . . (7/4/09) - "My wife and I stayed over one night on our way from Arizona to Indiana, and this was by far one of the best places we've ever stayed at. If you're looking for a very good stopover for you and your horses, this is the place.". . . (7/6/09) - "I got caught in a bad storm and saw the sign from the freeway. Very friendly, great stalls, and very easy access from I-44. She even let me toss a sleeping bag on the office floor so I didn't need to go back out in the storm.". . . (10/7/10) - "Walt stayed there a year ago and I failed to post our good comments. Mea Culpa. MD is everything you could want at a competitive price. Unbelievably easy to get to. Not even 5 minutes off I-44. EZ access and turnaround, nearby motels and restaurants.Clean barn, secure facility, superior help and hospitality."

(4/28/13) - "We followed our GPS (Google maps) which took us to a different Allen Rd ( be sure and use owner's directions). Long story short, we were on tight back roads and tried to turn around in a grassy area getting stuck in mud. Cindy not only came to our location but found a tow service for us. She was a godsend. Cindy is very nice, her place is very well kept, large stalls, easy access to highway, food, groceries. We are driving a 28 foot trailer and had plenty of room. Thank you, Cindy!"

Comments: (10/12/12) - "Pat was a wonderful gracious host. We were traveling through Kansas City heading from Waco, Texas to southern Minnesota. We called around 7 pm and asked if there would be room for us around 1030 pm and 1100 pm. Pat said that wouldn't be a problem. He called back to check on us twice and once to let us know he would be waiting for us once we exited from I-35 at the local gas station. It was very nice of him to go out of his way to meet us. The location would have been easy to find but it was nice to have the extra care and service. The stalls were large with very nice attached paddocks. Nice large arena and large turn around for truck and trailer. Highly recommend High Point Arena."

Comments: (7/18/07) - "We did not stay long at Kittyhawk ranch, as some road trouble the day before had delayed us and we needed to make up time in our schedule. However, Teri was a very kind and gracious host. The apartment suite, which was a bargain price for what it is, was charmingly decorated in a Western motif, and we were able to let our dog and cats out of their cages (most of our other stays did not allow us to bring the pets inside). The horse facilities were fine although, as an east-coaster, I was not used to pipe-corrals. I know they are common in the west, so probably not a big deal to people moving West to East. However, even though it was the first time in them, my horses were fine with them. A recommended stay.". . .(8/22/07) - "A nice quiet, relaxing stay for the horses and humans! Cute, comfortable apartment right next to the stalls. Very friendly people at the stable.". . . (7/17/12) - "I kept my mare at Kitty Hawk Ranch during our cross-country move. I found the hosts to be very friendly and the facilities were wonderful. My mare was allowed turn-out for the night which we both appreciated since she had been in a trailer for so long.". . . (8/4/12) - "Arrived after very warm trip dog tired. Terri was very friendly, helpful and made us welcome. The bunkhouse was cool, clean and very nicely arranged. Full kitchen with micro. Good eating places also minutes away. Would recommend this stop to all my friends."

Comments: (9/5/10) - "Rolling up I-44 my cow ponies, cow dogs and I were road weary! We had tried a couple of places en-route but to no avail. Then a call to this place answered right away and we found a true jewel of Ozark hospitality. Just a couple miles off I-44 at exit 214 in Leasburg MO is Newt's Nod Away; peaceful, tranquil, beautiful, so much so we stayed an extra day! Thanks to Susan Newton and her fine Foxtrotters Buck and Star, we left clean, well rested and safe. I look forward to visiting again and again!". . . (2/3/11) - "Hello Susan you wonderful life saver. Susan put us up during a horrendous snow storm on our way to Arizona. The highway west was shut down and she invited us to put up for the nite or two until it was safe to go. She had two stalls, electric and water ready for us. We actually stayed 2.5 days due to the storm. A great lady, a wonderful ranch and the stay was perfect. Would stay there anytime and would recommend to anyone. Thanks for the cookies; they kept us going. Susan thanks so much from the Canadians heading west. You made our trip worth while and great to have met you. See you again, B.T.". . . (11/17/11) - "Susan, thanks for another great stay. Short but sweet on our way from Ontario, Canada to AZ. You are the best. Safe secure and easy to get to. Will see you again on our next trip. B&C Ontario, Canada.". . . (4/21/12) - "Hello Susan, great to see you on our return trip in April 2012. Super as always. Next time we'll stay and ride with you. Have a good summer. Bryan & Carol Turner.". . . (4/10/13) - "Thanks Susan for another great stay. As always you make our trips wonderful. Comments: (7/29/02) - "We definitely will be back to visit Heidi and the clan. She is a fantastic hostess; makes you feel right at home. Accommodations are above any five star hotel - clean, very well maintained. our horses did not want to leave !!! Our stay was more than enjoyable. Got to love those muddy missouri hills." (11/5/02) - ". . .I brought up two horses from Texas and it was great for them to stay. I had planned to keep them in a couple of runs there, but the weather was bad and by the time we arrived there Heidi had made plans for our horses to stay in barn and out of the weather. Meadow View Ranch is very accessible from the interstate only 6 or 7 miles and there were plenty of nice places to dine. The cabin was very nice and has a great view. Thanks for your hospitality Heidi!!!". . . (5/21/03) - "What a wonderful place to stay! The barn was immaculate with huge stalls, plenty of bedding and clean water awaiting us. The cabin is very nice with a gorgeous view....can't wait to try it out when we can stay longer. You definitely won't find anyone nicer then Heidi and her staff. We arrived rather late but she still was there to meet us with a smile and made us feel right at home. We will definitely go back." (6/9/03) - "The most wonderful host & hostess you will ever meet. I immediately felt welcome and like I had known Heidi & Craig forever. The place is so clean you could eat off the floors. The animals at Meadow View Ranch are truly loved and taken care of. I highly recommend that everyone schedule a few days to visit.". . .(2/12/05) - "I was amazed at how clean the facility was. The stall was right next to the fantastic apartment I was in. You can ride on the property there which is beautiful, or trailer a short distance to many close by government lands. Heidi was a gracious hostess. I would plan a trip back to Missouri just to stay there but I would stay longer next time.". . .(9/24/05) - "Great Place to stay. Heidi and Craig were so nice. We loved the apartment above the barn. It was so cute and stocked with everything you need. We felt so bad because we arrived very late, but they were fine with it. I took one of my horses on a nice trail ride out through the 200 acres of property they have. It was so pretty. They are the best people and I loved the baby calfs so much I wish I could have taken one home. I highly recommend this place, with or without your horses!". . . (12/3/05) - "Heidi thought of everything. The place looks brand new, and everything is done just right. The apartment above the barn was spacious, immaculately clean, and had everything. Our horses each had a clean box stall with an outdoor run fenced with smooth wire. There was plenty of room to turn around our trailer. If there were ratings, this place is a solid 10. It's what you hope for when you demand comfort for your horse and you, too. Look no more. This is the place in Missouri. Plan your drive to stay here.". . .(2/18/06) - "Our first trip, we arrived in a driving rainstorm. Warm, light barn was wonderful. Human and horse facilities are immaculate. Restaurants are a drive, but you know that beforehand. Room to ride, friendly critters and staff. We live in the area and make it a weekend escape.". . .(/8/29/08) - "Wonderful facility! We have stayed several times with our horses and been thrilled with the considerate hospitality and comfortable accommodations. We will definitely return!". . .(9/13/08)- "Thank you so much Heidi and Craig!! We had a wonderful stay on an overnight from MI to AZ. Wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely try to next time. All of the "finishing touches" were so neat and it was incredibly clean. Loved the cowboy room right next to the stalls. Heidi was waiting next to the large turnout when we arrived which my horse was very greatful for. Also loved the fact they were dog friendly. Only downside was I was nervous about the hilly roads upon arriving to property but it was well worth it for the great hospitality and accommodations. Highly recommended!"

Comments: (8/27/01) - "It was such a "homey" atmosphere (just wish we could have stayed longer and actually got to visit with our hosts!). The breakfast was a nice "plus" also. Would definitely stay here again and would tell all my friends about it even if they didn't have their horses along...it was "superb"!!!!". . .(9/9/02) - "Excellent facilities for both horse and owner. Made the "marathon weekend trip" to pick up a horse much more enjoyable and easy for all.". . .(1/19/03) - "You have to stay at the farm. You wouldn't believe you are staying above the horses.". . .(2/23/03) - "Easy to get to. Great suite. Old style barn. A great place to stay.". . . (5/4/04) - "The Barn Suite was truly cool. We could hear the horses prior to falling asleep but there was no odor in the suite itself. The suite was clean, spacious and set up with breakfast foods and coffee. Our hostess was wonderful enough to leave the light on for us even though we arrived at midnight.". . .(7/21/06) - "Parking very small, one large rig or two very small rigs, right on the side of the road. Otherwise very good.". . . (5/5/10) - "Very nice suite above the stalls in the barn. We had a choice of putting the horses in an indoor arena, in stalls or an outside pasture. Sharon was a very friendly person. Our truck & trailer was parked quite close to a road. The farm itself was only 5 minutes off the interstate. I would recommend it to anyone."

Comments: (1/13/13) - " I would highley recommend Big Star Ranch to anyone who may be traveling through Southwest Missouri. The facilities are first class for horses and people alike. The stalls are clean and safe with plenty of room for the horse to rest and relax. The cowboy quarter’s felt like home away from home. It was nice to be able to step out of our quarters and check on our horses anytime we wanted. It was wonderful to visit a place where you’re welcomed the moment you arrived on the property. I will definitely visit this place again whenever possible."

Comments: (4/7/11) - "Really nice Bed and Breakfast in a very nice, very clean remodeled and updated farm house. Tall green grass in small pasture (1/2 acre approximately) and 2 nice box stalls. My room looked right over the horses. I highly recommend. Small but nice and adequate with great lodging and hot homemade breakfast.". . . (4/8/11) - "We just loved this facility; the way that the host cared not just for us but but for our 2 horses was a very welcome treat. I will reccommend The Albee Farm and Sharon to all of my friends.". . . (7/7/11) - "Very friendly host offered to babysit the horses and dogs whilst we went to dinner. Very nice bed and breakfast. Very private and secure little place that was very close to I-29 and around the corner from Walmart and tons of great eateries (Cheddars, Olive Garden, Panda Express, KFC, etc). Not suitable for large trailers but great for couples, singles or those traveling with 2 or 3 horses that want a nice place to relax.". . . (11/7/11) - "Wonderful Bed and Breakfast - - not suitable for large trailers. Great food, nice pastures, peaceful setting, close to shopping and dining. Would highly recommend for 1 or 2 horse layovers. Lots of bang for the buck."

Comments: (10/8/09) - "My husband was shut out of the fairgrounds for arriving too late so I got on the net and found Eda and the Rockin'E- even after calling after hours and showing up dreadfully late she welcomed my husband and took fabulous care of the 3 horses! She offered Jimmy accommodations at her Bed and Breakfast and cooked a breakfast that was wonderful! She was heaven sent to a weary traveler and we highly recommend the Rockin'E - I know when we are on the road we'll go back!". . . (11/6/09) - "Eda and Mike Johnson are great hosts - Eda is a major MO Fox Trotter judge and she and Mike breed some lovely Fox Trotters. She and Mike are horse lovers of the highest orders - their home and guest rooms are lovely, comfortable and quiet, unlike a motel/hotel room on the interstate. Their barn isn't fancy, but the stalls are clean, the barn is clean and neat, their attention to you and your horses are beyond what you will find - especially for the money. Plus - if you're a true horselover, you'll enjoy sitting around and exchanging stories with these genuine down to earth folks. They also have Krystal (who's last name I don't remember) but who is their barn manager and is an exceptionally competent young woman who will insure that your horses have the very best of care. Don't miss this exceptional opportunity to lay over, ride great trails and enjoy wonderful hospitality! Sallie.". . . (111809) - "The experience was Awesome! They are by far the best value in MO.". . . (1/13/10) - "Wonderful host! Eda cooked up a wonderful breakfast for us before we hit the road, great way to start the day!". . . (2/19/10) - "OMG. We have a NEW FAVE! Very easy access, Walt got there just about dinner time and they stopped what they were doing, helped offload the horses, got everyone settled in and invited him to dinner. Stuffed peppers...everything was great, the help, the facilities, the food and the company, the morning coffee. And the price is right. This could motivate Walt to travel I-70 more often!". . . (6/19/10) - "Eda always makes for a very comfortable and pleasant stay. EZ access is even easier as she will meet you just off the Interstate and guide you in. A godsend. Great cook, great hostess. Human food & lodging? check and check...". . . (10/26/10) - "Recommended. I can hardly imagine a better host! Might not be easy access for large rigs, but Eda would make it work!". . . (11/9/10) - "We stopped here on our way to the National Drive in Indiana. It was our first experience with "Horse Hotels". We were totally satisfied. It set the bar high when we travel with horses. Thanks, Eda you are the best.". . . (3/27/11) - "We had an accident on the way through to pick up horses, called Eda and they came and got us while the truck was getting temp. repaired to make the run. Stopped back through with horses going home, great facility, and even better people. Truly happy to make the contact, and know I have a friend for life. God Bless Eda and Mike. David H.". . . (4/21/11) - "Eda was a gracious hostess, the atmosphere was homey and her hearty breakfast was excellent to carry weary travelers through lunch. Each guest room had its own bath and the rooms were very clean. The Rockin E was very close to I-70 and restaurants. The pipe panel corral stalls are not fancy but were more than adequate for the horses. Eda had pre-filled our water for us so all we had to do was back right up to the barn, unload, throw out some hay and head for dinner. Would definitely recommend and stay again.". . . (8/24/11) - "When our truck broke down after all day hauling from the east coast, the folks at the Rockin E came to get us, three horses and one dog. Eda made everyone feel right at home, taking great care of us and the horses. HIGHLY recommend!". . . (10/14/12) - "Just a lovely location, superbly hospitable hostess and great accommodations and food for an extremely affordable price. I would look forward to staying again!"
