(Editor's Comments: Due to the large amount of feedback we have received on this facility, all of it positive, we've posted only the more recent comments. We thank everybody who has sent in so many nice comments.)
(6/10/10) - "We really can't say enough nice things about our stay! Dave and Kathy are wonderful hosts! Awesome to have a comfortable bed to rest on, with our pets welcomed as well (ask about their sleeping rooms for rent). Felt right at home. My 3 horses loved it! Beautiful setting, fun pond to paddle boat on (and the dogs had fun swimming!) If we are ever within a few hours drive, we will definitely return! HIGHLY recommend!". . . (8/3/10) - "Dave and Kathy are AWESOME! We had to change our arrival date at the last minute and they were gracious enough to accommodate us. They even offer "human" rooms which worked out GREAT for us. The property is beautiful and easy to find. I would HIGHLY recommend their place to anyone needing a "horse hotel"!! 4*+ RATING!". . . (9/8/10) - "It's too bad there isn't an "exemplary" category as these were the hosts & facilities. Friendly, welcoming, extremely clean and secure. Our little mare was very happy to have both a turnout in which to roll and a box fan in her stall. Conveniently close to I-70 but so peaceful & quiet. If you don't plan a stop here you are missing out. Thank you, Kathy & Dave!". . . (10/6/10) - "I hauled my horse from Fallon, NV to Hamilton, VA in September and Campground Stables was by far the nicest stop on my journey. Dave was ready and waiting upon our arrival and the facilities were everything I needed for my 26 year old Thoroughbred. Human lodging at the stables was also top notch, and you can't beat the price! The best deal of my trip. I will stay again if I'm hauling horses, and would stay if making a trip across country. The hospitality and facilities are second to none.". . . (11/20/10) - "Dave and Kathy are super great. I had a very comfortable stay and a safe stay for my horse.". . . (1/16/12) - "What a wonderful experience! As we traveled across the country both our horses and us were pleased to have such a clean, comfortable and welcoming facility. Friendly and personable people with a really hospitable place thanks to Dave and Kathy- our kids enjoyed your toy room, our horses enjoyed the spacious stalls and turnouts and we loved the warmth and whole experience you provided! We will definitely pass your name along to other travelers!". . . (7/5/12) - "Campground Stables is a top notch facility located less than 5 minutes to the I-70. The stalls are very large, safe and comfortable and the runs are huge with close cropped grass to keep the horses happy and safe. The grounds are immaculate and beautiful. We took many great pictures while we were there. We chose to stay in their "sleep in" rooms which were clean and spacious and we ordered out food that was delivered to the door. We are a family of 6 (!) with a dog and 2 horses and this was the best horse hotel experience we have ever had. We would absolutely stay there again. Very professionally run.". . . (10/14/12) - "I love this place! Mr. & Mrs. Corder were very friendly and helpful. The place is immaculate and the stalls are large and safe. I highly recommend this haven to all who are traveling with horses. God Bless You Dave & Kathy for providing us "horse" people with a clean, safe place to rest on our travels.". . . (6/21/13) - "This was our first time using a Horse Motel and we were a little leery about it, but our stay at Campground Stables was WONDERFUL! The hosts were friendly and welcoming. There was ample room for trailer parking, and the location can't be beat! We were just a mile or so from the highway, but felt like we were out in the country. Our horse had a HUGE stall with grassy turn out and secure fencing. The barn was immaculate! The people quarters were clean and comfortable. There was a TV room with coffee maker, mini refrigerator and morcowave. The bathroom was spotless. The hosts are good Christian people who welcome you at any hour with a smile and friendly conversation. I highly recommend Campground Stables to anyone needing a layover.". . . (7/3/13) - "Terrific people, amazing barn and property!!! Clean, airy, and safe. They have hook ups for LQ but we had the pleasure of staying in their very comfortable home. They accommodated my whole family moving across the country. Five people, three poodles and one horse traveling in three vehicles. The host, Dave, was there every step of the way helping us navigate everything and settling the horse while his wife was assisting us in the house as we arrived on a very wet night. Can't say enough wonderful things. Great place, great people.". . . (8/7/13) - "Dave and Kathy were right there when we pulled in late. They made sure my horse was in her stall safe and sound. They made sure we had no worries or needs pertaining to my horse who seemed right at ease in her surroundings. The stall was huge and filled with shavings where my horse would feel most comfy. The place was so clean and accommodating, I will go out of my way to stay here again. Dave and Kathy are very gracious and horse knowledgeable. We LOVED our too short of a stay.". . . (6/16/14) - "After traveling for 5 days and over 1,900 miles staying at 4 other ranches along the way I came to this facility and "WOW;" I wanted to buy it. Absolutely beautiful and immaculately kept and perfect for the horses and me. Less than 1/2 mile off the interstate for easy access back on. Another plus is that there is a gas station just before you get back on the interstate. Even if you are not traveling come and stay there anyway :) Thanks Dave, I will definitely be back and I will tell my story to all the horse people I know and meet. Daryl.". . . (7/29/14) - "Very nice accommodations for both the horses and people. Dave and Kathy were great hosts, they rent out rooms in their house so it was great to be able to lay down and sleep during the day as we were traveling through the night. The fence posts all look fairly straight and in good shape. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stop."

Comments: "Karen is a most wonderful person! Be sure to stop there if you are going through Illinois!". . ."Host was extremely helpful in settling my horse and giving me directions to my next destination and telling me where to stay (that allowed pets). Host checked horse in the evening, too! My horse liked it. Clean, safe and spacious enough for my horse to stretch without hurting himself. An excellent place to stay in inclement weather, as the stalls open directly into a covered arena.". . (10/1/02) - "I can not recommend this place enough. The owners were soooo nice. This place was great. We were traveling from Iowa to Michigan and need a place to stay for a few days. Their stalls open up on a covered arena. The horses really enjoyed getting out of their stalls for a little exercise after being trailered. We went trail riding at their place and at the canal. We had so much fun that we plan on going back again. This is a great place to stay!!!!". . .(5/4/04) - "Just left the motel and was very pleased with all facilities. The Huskeys are wonderful hosts. I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone traveling with horses.". . .(6/12/05) - "Karen was very helpful when it came to loading an inexperienced horse in the trailer. With good humor and a lot of patience, he finally clambered in without unduly upsetting him.". . .(9/19/06) - "Very nice and helpful host. A beautiful place with comfortable accommodations for the horses. I did not notice the proximity to "human" food and lodging, as we stayed in our RV.". . .(12/7/07) - "Lovely indoor facility which was immaculate and secure...Mrs. Huskey was a wonderful hostess.". . . (7/14/09) - "Karen was wonderful. Met us when we got there and even gave us some shampoo and conditioner to wash our horses with! Our horses were very comfortable.". . . (8/21/09) - "Great place to spend the night. We ended up getting there very late and we were met at the curb by a very friendly person. She was great and helped us immensely in getting our horses settled for the evening. It was our first long distance haul and didn't know what to expect, it was great. Would gladly stay here again. Thank you very much.". . . (7/8/14) - "We have been using Husky's Horse Hotel for the past three years on our way to and from the National High School Rodeo's in Rock Spring, Wyoming. The facility is clean and always ready for our horse. The owners are wonderful folks to deal with and will welcome you no matter the time of day you arrive. I highly recommend this hotel."

Comments: (12/17/06) - "This was an awesome experience, and everyone at Wellgreen Farm made us feel very welcome. Thanks!". . .(4/12/07) - "We were welcomed to this farm by its gracious host, Marjorie. The stalls/barn are safe and maintained-nice quiet facility for our horse to layover. We stayed in the apartment above the barn-was clean, warm and quiet. The apartment was so convenient-to be able to quickly settle in, cook a meal, shower, and relax. A great layover for my horse and family!". . . (5/6/11) - "We spent a night at Wellgreen Farms in Downs, IL. This was a wonderful facility because they had an apartment right above the stalls for us to stay in. Very comfortable, relaxing, air, heat, hot water- everything we needed. You could easily stay there several days and be very comfortable. It was great to just unload, put our mule in the stall and not have to load ourselves back up! Thanks Wellgreen Farms for your wonderful place! If anyone is looking for a spot along the way-this was great!"

We will use them in future travels.". . .(11/12/06) - "Had a welcoming committee of not only the human kind, but the stable mates! We and our horses were made to feel welcome and comfortable with the arrangements. We will be using this facility again when we travel in spring of '07.". . .(4/21/04) - "Ron was a great host. Very accommodating. He took good care of our horses. Stable is close to many hotels, restaurants and shopping. Right off the freeway.". . . (11/15/10) - "We have stopped over in Effingham, Illinois for several years now at Ron & Becky Althoff's Pine Tree Stables. They have been most accommodating to Kurt and me and our two Quarter Horses on our overnight stays. We always arrive to clean stalls and electric hook-ups, etc.". . . (12/12/12) - "I was so happy when I pulled into the stable. I arrived at the end of day 2 of a 3 day cross country trek. My gelding was tired but he was happy to be off the trailer. The stall was safe and secure, nicely bedded with shavings and plenty of good hay. There were other horses nearby for him to see. He was very happy to run loose and roll in the very large arena. Thanks for a great service."

He also told me where the hotels were on the other side of the highway. Stalls were very clean and my two colts were very happy to stay in one stall."

(7/27/10) - "Extremely nice people with very clean and easily accessible facilities from the Interestate. Only 2 miles from exit with several restaurants. Power and water hook-ups, but no sewer. I highly recommend this horse hotel.". . . (8/9/10) - "Thanks for a gracious welcome to our High School Rodeo Kids and thanks for welcoming our horses as well.". . . (2/4/11) - "Very clean, safe and friendly facility. The Lacey's are very accommodating. I would recommend them to anyone passing thru Mt. Vernon IL.". . . (6/14/11) - "Nice folks, nice place. We used a paddock, and appreciated that there was an alley between each paddock to keep other horse away from ours. Very clean and safe.". . . (6/18/11) - "Very friendly and accommodating. Marla even called a hotel for me to ask the questions I had. A very positive experience overall and highly recommended; hosts live in apartment in the barn. Clean, large stalls, and very conveniently located. They put their dogs away so mine could stretch their legs after being on the road all day. Great family run operation.". . . (7/25/12) - "I traveled from GA to WY and stayed here on the way there and on the way back. The timing in between was perfect although I had to make a very late arrival on the way. My stall was lit, filled with water and very large for my horse to have plenty of room after the long drive. I was so impressed by this facility and the owners of this facility. The love and care they put into this ranch and their customer is beyond showing! You would NOT be disappointed in this facility! I already have plans to go back next year and I can't wait. My mind is so at ease knowing I have a safe, clean, secure, and friendly place like this to stay when making the long travel. I can't say enough good about it.". . . (5/29/14) - "Great hosts! Stayed one night on my way down and back from TN. They were very accommodating and made us feel welcomed. Stalls were very roomy and clean with water close by. Easy to get to from the interstate, yet it was quiet at night. Able to park and plug in on a level surface. Would highly recommend to anyone who needs an overnight in southern Illinois.". . . (6/26/14) - "We've stayed here on three separate occasions and Rick and Marla have been awesome in providing wonderful care for our horses. Each time, we arrived late and left early, but we never felt like an inconvenience and someone was always available to answer our questions. The stalls and paddocks are large, clean, and separated from other horses. We will definitely stay again.". . . (7/12/14) - "We arrived late after having trailer tire issues and Rick and Marla we both there on our arrival. Rick had already made calls to local business owners on our behalf, before we even arrived. He then offered and accompanied my husband to his friend's tire establishment the next morning were it was determined that we had 2 bad rims! He then drove with my husband to another nearby town to acquire the correct rims to accommodate our G rated tires! Then after returning to the local tire repair shop to mount the tires on the rims, Rick called us the next day after we had left to see how we were making out!! Great facility and obviously great hosts!! We can't praise them enough! Would stay there again in a heart beat!!

Comments: (5/14/03) - "We have stayed with Kelly for two trips to Eminence, MO from Chicago, coming and going. Wonderful, caring people. Recommend highly.". . .(5/4/06) - "A small, somewhat cramped barn--but ideal location, location, location. The hosts were very helpful with directions, very welcoming on arrival. The transit stalls were very nice--but getting to them means a careful walk through narrow barn aisles. We'd happily stay here again." .. (Owners' reply to preceding comments) - "Oops, sorry about the "neatness" neutral, we've been rehabbing--we ARE clean! Had we known they were "green" for 1:30am arrival, we would have put them in smaller stalls up front. Goliath made it through with no problems--so can you!". . . . .(7/21/06) - "Great host, great place to stay on your way west., would definitely. stay again.". . .(7/31/06) - "Nice facility, people were very nice and took great care of my new horse that was transported in from PA. The transport service American Equine highly recommends this stable for layover or drop offs due to easy access off of the highway. Thanks again.". . . (3/28/09) - "We came through twice very late in the evening, and Kelly was happy to greet us and open the gate! Somehow we got off track time wise, and Kelly was nothing but flexible. Very convenient to hotels (dog friendly), interstate, and fast food."

Comments: (7/6/02) - (Owner's Comments) "Hot Shot, the 2001 NFR Barrel Champion, and his buddy and his people stayed for 2 days between shows. The Steinhoff family is very friendly and down to earth for famous folk. They even helped me with a fun show for lesson students during their stay! They were happy with my facility and care of their horses and the kids enjoyed swimming in my kiddy pool and playing basketball and volleyball.". . . 11/8/02) - "The facilities are nice and the host is accommodating. I felt very comfortable staying here. The resident cat was extremely friendly also. I would definitely recommend this stable.". . .(1/28/03) - "Very clean and friendly environment. April, the owner, is very knowledgeable in the health and care for any visiting horses as well as the boarders horses. The tack shop located right on the premises is very resonable in pricing and contains all the necessary equipment plus all the fun and enjoyable items. I will recommend this facility to all my friends.". . .(7/6/04) - "I loved the accommodations at Coyote Creek Tack and Stables Inc. April is a very pleasent person to be around and very friendly. . . . When I boarded my horse for two weeks out there, she allowed me to use the arenas and round pen any time I wanted to. I started having troubles with my horse in riding and she helped me work it out. She has over 3 hours worth of trails for your enjoyment and they are always clean ones. The horses even get the enjoyment of snacking on some corn stalks while on the way down the trail! If I were to say in one word how my overall experience at CCT and CCSI was I would say: WONDERFUL! April has a very nice facility." (11/15/04) - "April was very friendly and professional. The facilities are clean and inviting. Coyote Creek Stables is convenient to the interstate for travelers. It also has riding facilities and trails. I would recommend this stable.". . .(4/28/08) - "April was very helpful and runs an outstanding facility. There is a tack store on the grounds if needed and a wounderful indoor arena for your horses to run and stretch their legs. I have stayed in several facilities throughout the country and this was without a doubt the BEST. Thanks, April.". . . (2/1/09) - "This was our 5th stay at this facility. April's barn is clean, friendly and professional. She was accommodating for our special requests for our horses and late arrival time. There were many options before stalling our horses to turn out in the round pen, indoor or outdoor arenas to stretch their legs. Highly recommended.". . . (10/25/11) - "Coyote Creek is a clean, wonderful facility and April is a great host who will work with you in whatever you need! Coyote Creek is approximately 10 minutes from the interstate and food options. April gives her overnight boarders the option to put their horse(s) in stalls or a turn out pen to stretch their legs. The indoor and outdoor arenas are also for use in stretching the horses legs for a while even if you would prefer a stall for the rest of your stay. The extra stalls that were built over the summer are the perfect size for oversized horses. April will even give her overnighters the option of sleeping in the overnight room or hooking up their trailer for a reasonable rate. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who is traveling!". . . (11/11/11) - ) - "Great place! Huge stalls ~ private barn for overnight guests. Very quiet and relaxing! Close to the highway. I was very pleased and would highly recommend Coyote Creek!". . . (11/14/11) - "I was impressed with the indoor arena and the stalls. The overnight room was very comfortable and you could see the corral from your windows. It was only a short drive back to the highway. Would highly reccommend to others who travel thru central IL."

Comments: (6/18/13) - "Thank you Tom and Lea! I wish we could have stayed longer than the one night. The place is absolutely amazing! We had the choice of pasture or stalls. The pasture was well maintained and large. The barn was very new with rubber matted stalls. Goats had their own turnout and dogs had a fenced yard to play in! The house was immaculate, and the bed is more comfortable than the one I have at home! Thank you for your hospitality!"
