Facilities: Welcome to the beauty and serenity that awaits you at Black Forest Farm, LLC. After a long day of travel, your horses will appreciate our roomy 12' x 24', 10' x 24' or 12 x 12' stalls in a well ventilated barn with plenty of natural lighting. While the surrounding terrain is hilly, there is a large 90' x 120' arena with gates on either end for loading or to stay the night in your living quarters. The picture with the three larger trailers in the arena gives you an idea of the space available. It's easy to drive in one side of the arena and out the other. Water and electric hook ups are available and there is a porta potty in the barn. There's a camp site by the fire pit for those who want to pitch a tent. There are also motels less than 10 minutes away. Deer Valley Lodge in Barneveld and The Village Inn in Mount Horeb are the closest two. In Barneveld, there is a gas station with a large parking lot and easily accessible diesel pumps. A real treat for anyone who has traveled with a horse trailer. They also have a Subway as well as other great food in the store. Of course there are other places to eat in the area as well as many local attractions. Our guests have included tourists, people moving, people selling or purchasing a horse, groups going to and from shows and horse transports. We can easily accommodate a dozen or more horses in stalls. We would love to help make your next trip a little easier with a stay at our farm.
Location: We are in an excellent location just three miles off a main highway. For those coming from Interstate 90/94 from Chicago to the south and LaCrosse to the north, you will be passing around Madison on highway 12 and then taking highway 18/151 west. (From the north, there are some shortcuts) We are just 30 minutes west of Madison and 3 miles south of highway 18/151. For those coming through Dubuque, you will be on highway 18/151 already. These are all divided highways, so very easy travel with your trailer. From 18/151, turn south on County Road F and go three miles to 3255 County Road F. A couple of things to watch for would be that the numbers go down and then jump up at my farm and there is a place where F curves sharply to the right which one can miss even though it's marked. Look for the "Welcome to Iowa County" sign. We are about 1/2 mile farther at the crest of the second hill from that sign on the left.
